The design looks slick. Hopefully they'll give out details soon.

And wow, they have KONAMI, Bethesda, Tell Tale, Marvelous in that list... (Companies that normally wouldn't support Nintendo), but no Square Enix? :(

But hey, Grasshopper/Suda 51 are on board, same for Platinum Games. Those two studios make some crazy fun games, I'm glad.

Square Enid is on the list

I'm hoping for the dock to run the games, not the handeld (potentially more horsepower).

Not happending, its too costly to do things that way.
The benefits of keeping things in 1 system, instead of makeing 2 that work together is too big.
Plus look at the size of the docking station. Seriously doubt theres anything in there that gives it more horsepower.
Its just a strong tablet, and thats it.
When it docks it doesnt have to worry about power usage, so it runs faster.
But its all running on that chip inside the tablet.

To not be using the APU on the tablet would just be a waste of that hardware budget while docked.
A simple upclock (possibly with extra cooling from dock) is straightforward enough.
It's plausible they could have an SLI-type setup that syncs with the tablet APU (using 100% of both).
Or alternatively, just de-activate a certain amount of cores of CPU/GPU in mobile mode.

So it's an evolved Wii U.

That you can now go offscreen and take your game anywhere beyond the next room is a big plus.

That the controller becomes more easily lost down the side of the sofa than your average TV remote is a step backwards. No way could you lose a game pad.

Looks like it won't take disc games from the Wii U. Looks like it might take 3DS games, though. I guess since the Wii U sold so badly it might have been a better business decision to not go the extra mile in making it backward compatible with the Wii U.

I'm not sure about the controller, although it looks like there's an alternative pro type.

So, it seems that we will get an updated version of Mario Kart 8. King Boo is one of the new characters there.

Oooooh I didn't notice that, hopefully some new tracks too!

I don't see how people can comment on the power of the system when the games showed weren't meant to show off the power of the system.

Since when was Mario a benchmark for a system's power? Skyrim being there is probably just to show they have Bethesda's support, not to show off graphics. Jumping to too many conclusions. Not saying it WILL be more powerful, but you can't say you know that based off of a trailer showing the system more than the games.

People love to turn into the fast food version of Digital Foundry and Game Xplain whenever a video comes out.

What I am wondering is, is the docking station the only way to charge it? Like if we want to charge it and play it on the handheld, is there a cord for that?

I think there should be and there will be and the ocking is for the secret sause

Just a guy who doesn't want to be bored. Also

According to GAF, they are saying the tablet will probably run at 720p and the NVIDIA SoC which is built for scaling up will allow the dock to double the output to 1080p.

So that's pretty much an handeld wii U. I'm kind of disappointed at the concept, somehow.

The screen looks good, it would be a comfy console to play visual novels.

I think the dock has a secondary gpu chip and there is room for that. The cpu is pure handheld but the gpu with extra juice in the dock

That would be coherent with mid gen upgrade on home consoles, which is nice for developpers. It would be weird to see the same game on two different resolutions though.

Seems like packing in a normal controller and leaving the Vita thing in one piece would have been the better option.

Other than that, it seems pretty nifty. I think the gimmick part can be ignored, generally speaking, which is good.

Agreed.  Yeah, it's kind of funny that there doesn't seem a reason why you need ever detach the mini-controllers from the tablet.
And just use a "normal" controller when docked.  Although I expect they will charge you extra for that.

Eh, I wouldn't get my hopes up. It looks more like the dock is for connecting to the TV + charging than providing significant performance boost... But we shall see.
