Wish it was sold out in the US. I'm really questioning my investment now. 😐

I don't regret the purchase. It's just that the first place I went to didn't have the bundles so I hurried and bought the camera, moves, and headset for $600. I'm starting to think I could have gotten the $500 bundle with a free copy of PSVR Worlds if I'd just gone next door to Wal-Mart or looked around.

Oh well. Can't cry over spilled milk.

A friend of mine in The Netherlands doesn't expect to get one until late November. It comes out the 22nd and it seems all of the stock is pre-ordered already. Perhaps Sony misjudged the distribution, or maybe he'll get lucky too. My local shop didn't expect to get any for a long time, then they had about a dozen available for launch. The bundle is sold out at BestBuy, standalone headset is still available online and nearby stores.

The ps4 pro coming in less than a month probably hurt initial sales. Both are targeted at the hardcore player, not everyone can afford both. psvr is a gamble, ps4 pro you know what to expect. Anyway perhaps now they can set up some demo stations in stores :)

It hasn't had its first weekend yet. Come next week, it will be buzzing. By the time holiday shopping really kicks in, you will easily double your investment if you are planning to sell. This is will be Wii all over again, but it won't die out. VR is the next geration in media, entertainment, and communication. This is going from Radio to TV again. We have not had a new technology that changed the way we view and reciever entertainment since the 1940's when TV came to the consumer market.

In 5 years from now, I have no doubt that 500 million VR units will be selling each year. We will have VR in every room, and on every mobile device. So, be patient, your investment will be well worth it.

....

.....

.......

500 million? So more consoles than have been sold in the past 10 years, VR is going to do in 5. It must be because the technology is so cheap. I mean getting the latest and greatest VR headset, and the computer to support it only really costs like $2000 today with no indication the price is going to drop signifcantly in that time frame. That makes perfect sense.  I'm sure parents will be lined up around the block to get those sets come 2020.

I just don't understand why these chumps need to pay two to three times for a non-essential piece of electronic when they can just wait and get one for normal price at some point down the road.

here is a good offer

There are supplies at the local best buys in my area so for a limited supply item I don't think its selling as hot as people are making it seem

I'm not talking console VR, I'm talking VR overall. Prices will come down, and they will come down fast. PSVR and PS4 will be $400 by 2018. There will also be many, many new players in the VR market by then. Google is just starting to get serious, Apple is building up for VR, and AMD is building hardware for stand alone sets. That is just the beginning, again many more players will enter the market.

As for parents and VR sales, that is only a small portion of where VR sales will come from. Most sales will come from business for use in design, for use in productivity, marketng, training, and so much more. VR is the future, this is what will spur growth, innovation, and advancement in human life for the next 100 years and beyond.

Where did I say anything about just console VR? That is an insanely high numbers. PSVR and PS4 combined will not be $400 by 2018. There's no reason to expect the price of the PSVR to halve in price over the next two years. It took the PS4 over 3 years to come down $100, sure it probably will take 2 or 3 years to come down another $100, but the PSVR? I doubt it'll come down that much unless it fails in the market.

This is up there with JohnLucas predicting the WIi U to sell over 200 million lifetime when Sony and Microsoft cease making consoles due to poor sales. It's just ridiculous.

If consumers dont buy it now it can never be mass produced which dramatically reduces costs down the line and also gives them reason to invest in releasing improved future models.

I think he's talking about the people that pay 2-3 times retail because they never got one on release and are too impatient to wait the month until the shops in the area are restocked.
