Lol. I've been posting these types of threads for years now, only to get shat on by every responder. I warned y'all about the direction this site was going, but no one did anything about it.

The problem is that the majority of this site's fanbase consists of Nintendo fans. That in itself is dwindling so, of course, the community is dying slowly. To the outsider, VGChartz looks like a forum for NX rumours and Trump bashing. Why would anyone join this forum?

I agree we need Nintendo to just announce the NX. Then, we can have real debates about how it will it be received and if it will save Nintendo's HW prospects. That should at least keep the interest of the Nintendo fans. The lack of sales updates is pretty troubling, as that's what this site is supposed to be based upon. The political stuff should be gone for the most part in a few months, since the election will be over with.

Though, you do know you could post topics that interest you?

I can unironically say that that seems fair. I fixed the former by filtering out a lot of sub-forums.

Then I had almost nothing left but NX speculation threads. -_-

I think there are multiple reasons for lack of excitement.

Imo the biggest reason is that the big companies in the video game market have finally found out the best way to make money. The problem with their strategies is that they are no longer looking to innovate and improve the video game market. They are looking to hold the status quo and make X amount of $ every year instead of thinking about doubling the $ or tripling the $ etc...

It has been 14 years or more since a major player has entered the video game market, and it seems that will not change anytime soon. We can see that MS is content with selling less then Sony as long as they make a ton of money from Xbox Live. We can see that Sony is content with losing the handheld console war as long as they have the PS4. We can see that Nintendo has so much cash reserves that they don't care that the Wii U gets no support and continues to stagnate. We can see that the big game companies EA, ACTI, UBI etc. are fine with yearly games and less innovation.


Reason #2 why Vgchartz is boring is because if you don't join meta threads then you are missing out on a lot. Other then Meta threads you have General, Politics, and Sales discussions to try and keep things lively. So if you don't like General or Politics, that leaves very few threads to discuss with people. Meta Threads are much like the hardcore version of this site, it isn't very useful to casuals. But hardcores get a lot more enjoyment from it then the casual threads.

I actually need to get my hands on Sunshine; I haven't played it. That game would have rocked as a Splatoon single game! 

I still love this site, the charts and the Foruns, it is really cool.
