| Versus_Evil said: Quick impressions on Dishonoured after 4hrs. First off whilst ill always say i don't care much for prettier graphics, but the void engine which is powered by ID tech really shines with the (still thankfully) stylised look. One the best looking games I've seen this gen. So i got to the 4th level playing without powers/no kills/no alerts, this time your given the choice of playing with no powers, this results in runes giving you 200G after pick up instead but combine that with the greatly improved AI and you've got a seriously tricky game. To be fair, i gave up on this run and decided to restart, still playing stealthy with no kills but this time with powers, old school dishonoured style. So a few things that are new to powers, they now have upgrade trees instead of just 1 upgrade (Emily's shadow walk for example has 4 upgrades). There's also Bonecharm crafting, got a few bonecharms that you don't use? then destroy them for materials and make new ones with multiple (3-4) traits but risk them being created corrupted (further upgrades lower the risk of corruptions and also allows you to destroy runes for a far greater amount of material) Quick saving/loading is in and loading doesn't take 30+ seconds anymore, non lethal drop assassinations are also in, much appreciated. I haven't got that far into the game but its very much still Dishonoured but with its game play just refined more., if you liked the first one then you'll love this one. If you didn't enjoy the first one well... maybe give this a miss. But considering Dishonoured is one of my top 10 games of all time, im happy with the improvments. Wonder what else ill find that's new. |
From what I've read it does sound like the first game, but with a bit more depth. I guess that's what you would want from a sequel.
I don't know if it's because they are new, but Emily's powers sound really interesting, although the Domino one sounds overpowered.
I think I will probably get the game in the near future, and hopefully this time I'll be able to stick with a no kill playthrough like you are doing. In the first game, I started with that intention, but it didn't last long.
