How can no one be paused by this : $299-$399????

What have the rumors shown that warrants pricing in line with Xbox One S, Ps4 S or a Ps4 Pro (and who knows 8 months later the Scorpio possibly)?

The price is awwfull unless it turns out to be much more powerfull, if the rumours are true the real power is in the docking station and the handheld is just a cheap tablet with a hd-ready display, if these rumours are true and we take some of the things that sound reliable, its a device thats pretty bad as a handheld, pretty terrible as a home console and really the only good thing it does is nintendo games, which are generally really good but still.. its either a cheap device aimed for the mass casual market but not worth more then a PS4 and XBox One, which are both cheaper then #299 with  a game at this point...

But it will be very appealing, even a must have, for kids that don't own a smart phone. The mobile game tie-in to AAA games are inaccessible to younglings with no phones. Also the AAA tie-in mobile games are already made to run on Andriod and IOS so the mini portable unit that comes with the NX probably runs a branched version making these existing games ready to go. The big question is what other kind of mobile to console integration will Nintendo bring with the NX that doesn't currently exist now?

I work in elementary schools.  From my experience, the "kids who don't have access to a smart phone" market is small, and getting smaller and smaller.  Kids have access to smart phones or tablets one way or another.

Yes, then this could be another one of Nintendo‘s fantastic ideas that's just a little to late. That is exactly why the mobile NX component must bring something new with it's connectivity to the home console. Maybe the mobile NX is an actual functioning phone, like a cheap Chinese android phone, designed for kids. So parents could buy the NX for their child and kill two birds with one credit charge. A phone designed for kids would be a blue ocean market, and they get a game console with it.

Hey! They got SONY on my amiibo! Wait a minute. Two great gaming tastes that game great together!

What the hell? I thought rumors were banned on the NX subreddit?

Yeah, but if that's the kind of thing they're talking about, it's kind of pointless.  The mobile game can already be played on the phone I already have in my pocket.  If that's all the "interacting with your games on the go" thing means, then it's not that appealing.

But it will be very appealing, even a must have, for kids that don't own a smart phone. The mobile game tie-in to AAA games are inaccessible to younglings with no phones. This isn't very convincing. Why this demographic would want a semi functional handheld instead of a real one is something we'd need to address. The fact that Nintendo would be wanting developers to port to NX home console then make custom content for this mobile component is another question. Although there are quite a few tie ins, very few have huge success so I don't think it'd be a convincing selling point for a $299-$399 system, yet it'd probably add at least $50 to the systems cost even if it was a cheap as dirt/weak mobile device.

The Hybrid platform idea is far more functional & economically viable then fitting 2 independt consoles in one box.

The latest rumour puts the NX at PS4 Pro power range at around 3.6 Teraflops look up the other thread.

I've had a quick look and haven't been able to find anything recent on a 3.6Teraflop NX. Could someone point me in the right direction?

If Nintendo are planning such a console then PS4 Pro is deadly competition and they're making a mistake not announcing the system ASAP.

Last two pages of this thread discuss the rumour, the person leaking it isn't posting on Reddit or any other site for the matter and is keeping it solely on their twitter account.

Ps4 Pros problem is that the standard model is around so all games have to built with that in mind, NX being purely a 9th gen console means all games are built for the rumoured specs it'll have with out any basic model to factor in.

But the hybrid idea will have a portable system that is to big to be portable with poor battery life and a home console functionality that is subpar. And many people don't want full console quality games on the go, but smaller mobile style games.

But at the very least, the home console part will be solid, so there will be something Nintendo can put their weight behind without restrictions.

Yes. The main push will be on the NX home console. The NX mini portable will be the thing that is supposed to appeal to mobile gamers. I can see Nintendo doing some fun things with a mini portable that directly integrates into a home console. Some rumours suggest that the mini portable will link to a multitude of other devices, like your cell phone for bluetooth remote use. Should be interesting.
