Forums - Microsoft Discussion - ReCore may become a success despite mixed reviews

You can click bait with a positive score, but it's not nearly as effective as a negative score. I used to write for a website where this tactic was commonly used. This was before Metacritic's time, but our scores were on GameRankings and affected the scores of many games.

Never personally partook in that, but was accused of it a couple times due to low scores.

The same way negative news sell more newspapers than positive, but that doesn't mean troll or clickbait can't be achieved through being positive.

How can you bait with positives?

That is entirely what commercials are. Is this an actual serious question?

Baiting is "to attract, tempt, or captivate.". That is all.

Infact that is all advertising is. Baiting you.

Giving a high score for no reason is as much "bait" as is giving a low score for no reason.

In those situations, there's usually a lead. There's none here...

Three positive reviews do seem a bit too enthusiastic though, and one simply has little content, so I can say there might be four positive clickbait reviews... Whether you agree or not I don't mind...

You can even say it can be trolling with positive aspects because you are being so positive that it's fake.

Yeah, but it's more along the lines of rigging the score or really liking something everyone hates. People hate BB and like OW but I swing the other way. Hardly seems fishy... Of course, if you see a site with the name of the console on its address, you can single reviews out for bias...

You won't believe the scores people gave for recore! #7 will shock you...

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

Sure, there are some very positive reviews that just refer to a difference in taste and that is ok (as I think is the same for low scores).

Except this shows a distorted view of things. If you're not impartial to something, you lack the judgment to rate or criticize the issue...

There is no impartiality

There should be. Otherwise, we'd have to deal with a lot of serious issues...

Being a human being you have your opinion and opinions can't be impartial... What media have as being impartial or unbiased is allowing multiple different views to be presented and not positioning themselves, which is bullshit.

Much better to have an outlet to explicit say they are right/left liberal/interventionist than to pretend to be neutral but clearly being not. Same with videogames, it's better to know that an outlet favors or not a platform than to keep it hidden.

In other words, I have to allow leftists to criticize the right in a Republican rally?
