What match are you excited for at WWE Payback 2017?

Neville vs. Austin Aries ... 1 5.88%

Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyat... 3 17.65%

The Hardy Boyz vs. Cesaro... 3 17.65%

Kevin Owens vs. Chris Jer... 4 23.53%

Bayley vs. Alexa Bliss (Raw Women's Title) 3 17.65%

Seth Rollins vs. Samoa Joe 1 5.88%

Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman 2 11.76%

Total:17

I think the women's rumble was better than the men's rumble. I also felt that the women's war games match was better than the men's.

This could just be because the women are really talented and are just going to do better than the men sometimes. But, I think a part of it is also because on both of those occasions the women opened the show. It's really hard to have two of those kinds of matches in one night and have them both have the same impact. The men's rumble just kind of felt a bit off, and I think that's part of the reason.

For the rumble, you kind of have to have both at this point. It's such a tradition that people would revolt if there was no men's rumble and it would feel like a huge step backwards having no women's rumble. Similar for MITB.

But for the other events, war games, elimination chamber, hell in a cell, etc., I think going forwards, they should just have one of the featured match type. Men or women's whichever makes more sense with whatever's going on at the time.

For the rumble itself, I think having both in two nights makes no sense but like I said, you can't eliminate either. So, why not do them on separate nights? Not like Mania, but have one Rumble in Jaunary, and another in February. Marketing may be slightly tricky, but I think it will make each rumble feel better, and they get to use the Rumble as a selling point for two different events. Seems like it would work better that way to me.

That sucks about Triple H. I knew he had health issues, I didn’t realize they were that severe.

On the Royal Rumble, I think having them on two different nights makes sense if it’s an issue. Personally, I thought both matches were great and had no issue with it. I also found the strongest moment f the night was the final four of the men’s match. And I’m someone who has generally preferred the women’s division since at least the Mae Young classic. I’m not sure how I’d feel about splitting them up as it seems like it would make Royal Rumble night feel compromised. I recall them having second royal rumble event some time, a 50 person one, and that seemed kind of silly - but perhaps it was because there wasn’t any stakes?

Making the Royal Rumble into a two night event like WM would have been great but they would need more matches added to the card.

The 50 man "Greatest Royal Rumble" was held in Saudi Arabia and the result was getting a Trophy (so kinda like the Andre memorial cup for the Andre battle royale at WM).

Some things about the Vince thing and other older accusations and coverups from Vince’s circle.

• Smoke: This is eerily close to a late Attitude era story with Stephanie.
• Smoke: all the NDAs
• possible smoke: Ember Moon
• Smoking embers: Sable and Ashley Masaro (deceased by suicide)
• Smoking embers: The old Pat Patterson sexual misconduct accusations
• Burning embers: Moolah sex trafficking and power abuse allegations.

A lot of people seemed to have similar feelings about the men's rumble. To be fair, I started watching it late, so maybe I was tired. There were only three people I thought *might* win, and I think that was also a part of it. Until Cody came in at # 15 I really didn't think anyone in the ring had a chance of doing anything so it was hard to really get excited. For the women, I thought Bayley had a decent shot, and she was in early, so there was a bit more intrigue throughout.

I agree that the final four of the men's royal was the best part of the night, but overall, I think the women's match was stronger. There were a lot of moments I remember in the women's rumble, whereas the men's rumble there was very little that stuck with me before Cody and Punk.

I think there was a story where Vince wanted to reveal he was the father of Stephanie's baby? Which was gross in its own right, but I don't know if I'd say eerily close. Not like he wanted to do a storyline where he shat on her head and spitroasted her with Lauranitis.

Vince is clearly done and will probably get the Benoit treatment until his death and then maybe they'll slowly begin to address him again. Question is of the people who are in control now, what did they know and when did they know it. I'm kind of thinking that Steph and H didn't know all that much because... not the kind of thing you'd want to share with your daughter or her husband, but then again Vince isn't the most normal guy... clearly.

Craziest part of this is... he didn't just pay the NDA. Obviously I'm not condoning anything he allegedly (and probably) did, I'm just saying, if he did, it seems like 2 million dollars would be a fucking bargain to keep it from coming out. It's crazy these old sickos have not yet learned what they should have back during the Nixon administration; you don't get caught for the crime, you get caught for the cover up. Just write the check out of your personal bank account. Worrying about saving a few bucks and his whole legacy is burned down.

I miss the days of the Undertaker. Then anthem of his entrance is what defined wrestling. Also it amazes me that there are still so many people loving wrestling and it is something that many people grew up with. But for myself I never ever saw it on tv.

BiON!@

*Sigh*

So we're doing the Rock vs Reigns apparently. Makes basically no sense. Cody vs Rollins for a fourth time doesn't excite me. With this and Punks injury my hype for mania has gone down quickly. Was planning on going but now... Probably not.

I should have clarified the bit you’re responding to here. I meant the sex trafficking part. There was an angle (that occurred either during the McMahon-Helmsley era story between the time she betrayed Vince and Wrestlemania 16, or at some point during the Alliance era storyline) where Stephanie accused Vince McMahon trafficking her around and whoring her out to various people. It was part of the trauma of her character that led to her motivation during that story. It might have been another feud? They all kind of blur together.

I completely forgot about the Vince incest storyline, but remember it now.

Cody got screwed again lmao

Also what a way to make your World Heavyweight Championship title and champion look like a joke after that burning promo from Roman lol

Edit: And everyone who challenged for the WHC title too lol

HHH has been doing mostly a good job so far so I want to give the benefit of the doubt that maybe this is some kind of swerve... But, if this is what it looks like it may legitimately be the worst booking decision I have ever seen.

The whole appeal of Cody was that he was a guy who recognized he wasn't being used right, and instead of just sitting back and let it happen, he took a bet on himself, went out, made himself a bigger star, and then came back better than ever. This is the opposite of that. This is him earning his spot and then just politely moving aside for the Rock. Cody just comes out of this just looking like for lack of a better term, a total cuck. He just seems weak and impotent. Like he's getting screwed and he's thanking The Rock for the pleasure. Plus a big part of the story was about Dusty not getting his opportunity when he should have, and Cody wanted to right that wrong... but now he's just not.

The story is similar to Wrestlemania 20... and 30... At 20, Benoit was the talent who had been overlooked, won the Royal Rumble, and then when it came time to finally have his moment, HBK said no, and it was his time. Except, unlike Cody, Benoit said fuck no, and beat them both at Mania. At 30, Bryan was obviously the guy who the fans wanted, but an aging Hollywood star came back and was put into the picture... and again, Bryan said no. And the fans said no. And, whether or not it was really the plan all along or if they changed it along the way, Maina 30 ended as it should have. Instead of acting like those guys Cody just rolls over.

Just completely baffling booking. Even if you wanted to get to the Rock Reigns, literally the worst way to do it. Maybe the Rock just forced it since he's now on the board. I'm still hoping either it's a swerve, or maybe fan reaction will change the booking, but this sucks. Before I was going to shell out the ridiculous price to buy tickets and go. At this point, I don't really even feel like watching at home.
