Forums - Sony - Sony’s Andrew House Found Microsoft’s Response to the PS4 Pro “Quite Intriguing”

OK someone needs to develop some "safe spaces" for sensitive console superfans

This has nothing on the 16bit war....things are a LOT more civil now.

That being said, if this pressure makes Sony back down and actually put a 4K BluRay drive in the Pro, isn't that a win for everybody?

Power was such a important aspect for Sony this gen. Not only did they down played the XB1 in so many ways. They were the ones talking up 1080p. I wonder how they will go once that graphical advantage disappears.

That's not really true. Past the first few months, Sony themselves have been pretty infrequent in their mentioning of the PS4's hardware advantage. It's been primarily gamers and the media that has propagated the discussion. Even during those first few months, what made it such an effective selling point was that the PS4 was stronger and cheaper.

Is House upset by Microsoft pointing out the good things about the XBox 1 S?

Reading some of the comments, I must ask if that's so bad? I must ask because some people are coming down real hard on Microsoft. Is it wrong for Microsoft to promote their console and upcoming hardware?

Nah, I think he's just pointing out that MS said they weren't going to do this, and then they did it.

MS said they wouldn't promote their console?

I didn't know MS ever said they wont tweet about features the Xbox One has.

They're not just promoting their console, and denial of those obvious undertones in their messages won't really win arguments, it'll just show you lack reading comprehension or earn contempt and troll accusations (not calling you one, but others would be tempted).

Um, haven't you heard? 4K is a niche market. Nevermind the fact that the Pro was codenamed PS4K for months and that Sony only said 4K during the Pro reveal about a billion times and nevermind that they are releasing a super expensive dedicated 4K player early next year and nevermind all the buzz and excitement around here about 4K gaming on the PS4, since Sony opted not to include UHD disc playback, that's just a niche market.
