Forums - Sales - Who will win Others this week? Ps3 or Wii?

I think the PS3 could pull off its first wholesome victory since launch this week, GT 5P seems to have been huge (a lot bigger than I imagined anyway).

I think Nintendo will put more Wiis into Europe just to counter act the GT5P. As such I think your right it will be close in Europe but I think everyone who wants this game will already have a PS3. IMO.

Hmm...

Same thing people said about Halo 3. Didn't stop the 360 from a 4 month long Christmas season.

The most likely answer would be the PS3, but I still wouldn't underestimate the power of the Wii in Europe/Other.

So I'm going to go with PS3, but I could still see a surprise victory by Wii.

Wii going to win because Europe is soccerland & PES2008 Wii released this week

Wii still is gonna win - GTP won't stop it

PS3 will just edge it

I don't think Wii is in short supply in the UK at least. I have seen it in a few stores and it is avaliable on amazon and game.co.uk, which are probably the largest retailers

The Wii is not really supply constrained in Europe right now... After MK launches it may be another story of course.

Dude this came straight from the UK like 3 days ago.

http://www.mcvuk.com/news/30024/360-and-PS3-rocket-during-bumper-Easter

"Though PS3 is still outselling 360 regularly week-on-week and in terms of year-to-date sales, the Sony and Microsoft platforms both saw a 73 and 78 per cent rise in hardware sales respectively this week.
Nintendo’s mega-selling Wii and DS also saw significant rises, despite stock concerns. "

It seems that the trackers OFTEN mention the supply constraints of the Wii in the EU regions, but people actively ignore them and instead opt to cling to anecdotals instead.

It seems like people should be able to recognize that Wiiplay is tied closely to hardware sales, and when it jumped up the charts over 40+ spots last week that there MIGHT be a supply issue. And if that didnt do it, the direct QUOTES from Chart Track should do it.

Sometime back, before Christmas Wii supply had evened itself out in the EU regions, then people acknowledged it, but after the holidays it fell right back into its supply constrained ways, and seemingly people are just sticking with what was. Wii is supply constrained in the US the same way it is over in the large EU regions. Can you find one with some work? Sure. But its still far to constrained to call it "comfortably in stock."

Emm, No.... You can find one in London with NO work whatsoever.... What you get in Europe in terms of numbers sold in the last month is what demand actually is NOT supply.... (believe me I live here)

Then you can go argue that out with the CORPORATIONS THAT TRACK 80+% of the retail chains in the UK that sell video game consoles. Like I said, anecdotal data versus hard cold numbers. People are on this board every day talking about what is and isn't happening in the US to because they "Live there" but when NPD says something, most intelligent people tend to listen because they have MUCH more exposure to whats really going on.

So while your personal exp might say the console isn't supply constrained at all, the trackers say that it is, and We are all watching games like Wiiplay fluctuate over 40 spots up and down the charts week in and week out.

Im going to go with what common sense tells me in that case, Supply issues.

Hmmm... I think the PS3 will beat the Wii by a small margin, but will be overall 2nd worldwise and the DS will be first.

Are you really trying to convince me that the Wii (the console), that I see every day on sale in all the major retailers online AND in the high street (with all their big "WII IN STOCK" signs outside), is supply contrained because an analyst told you that? That is the worst argument I have ever heard....

PSN ID: T_Gears

End of 2009 ltd sales:

Wii = 67-68m

X360 = 38-39m

PS3 = 34-35m

Prediction: The PS3 will surpass the 360 on weekly sales after it drops to $299 on all regular weeks (no big releases).

[ ] You know what the difference between tracker an analyst is

[x]You just don't read what others are writting.

To put this argument to a rest, yes the Wii has supply issues in Europe, but there are nowhere near that big like in the US. Meaning, the shops arn't sold out 2 hours after the shipment arrives, but the shipment doesn't hold til the next arrives. ;)
