While this may be old(2.5ish months), it's still worth pointing this out to fans of the original pokemon and to the disgusting genwunners
Anyways, Pokebeach has revealed a lot of the cards, so check it out if you'd like. Besides some changes, the cards look essentially the same to the original Base set release. Hand drawn artwork, nostalgic layout, and a crapload of commons you'll probably store into a shoebox. note however, that the cards aren't 100% replicas of the original. Some moves, HP, and weakness/resistance may have possibly changed(not like anyone would really pay realize tbh).
it also includes Pokemon-EX(which are basically stronger versions of pokemon cards) in the original layout as well, which is pretty cool. here is an example:

Versus M-Charizard with the newer layout:

As someone who still casually collects Pokemon cards and loves every gen(except gen 2; dear god were they horrible), I'm glad to see this set. It'll be nice to open the packs and see cards from years ago. I'll probably save some packs for the future as well; preserve the nostalgia.
Edit: Thanks to Pokebeach for revealing the information. All credit is to them only.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.
