Forums - Gaming - 1080p users, hold on your Ps4 Pro Purchase, it will probably be a waste of $$ (Read)

1080p tv users, you might not want to buy Ps4 Pro unless you care alot about AA and nothing else wich, let´s say is the least of our problems, so i was watching a video and seems like the only thing Ps4 Pro 1080p tv user will benefit is from better IQ and nothing more, the game will just super sample the 4K image to your 1080p tv and nothing more, same shadows as on Ps4, same everything, only better IQ, is that worth 400$$? Hell no.

Now what you want is better FPS, better shadows, better lighting, better textures, better this better that, you will not get any of that!

This is a terrible decision by game studios and guys believe me this will be the norm because i watch some first party Sony devs saying this, you can check for yourself in the following links:

Edit: i´m missing one link.

Is that worth $400? What question is that? The price difference to a normal PS4 is $100 - $200, not $400.

Better AA or even supersampling is already a big improvement. Plus less slowdowns in problematic titles. Plus better performance for PSVR. Probably less noise than the first PS4-model, too.

Also a fresh warranty and higher resale value for people switching from their 2 - 3 year old PS4 model

You could have linked to a source more specifically. That's 17 minutes of babbling which I already saw right after the Sony event, but I forgot if/where they talked about supersampling when the PS4 Pro runs games in 1080p.

But I am afraid it will be like you say, they will only use the uspersamling that makes the 1080p image on a PS4 Pro a little bit sharper. That's it. They won't bother adding any advanced graphical effects.

So let's buy ourselves these glorious LG OLED B6 4K HDR screens then!!   I want one so bad. With these little guys we can enjoy the PS4 Pro to it's full potential:

the machine isnt out yet. There is not a single game running with a finished PS4pro mode.

Where are all these games and most devs confirming these rumors that is being spoken of?

Wait so will it not match PC settings at 1080p? I didn't watch the entire video cause I don't got time for that.

The main reason I am getting it though is cause I don't want dem framerate dips on games like FFXV

All this, plus my hdd is full!
I can play psvr while my kids play on the base ps4, win win.

Funny, I always read complaints of bad AA on consoles (true FXAA isn't all that great). The addition of supersampling would be very nice. Baldur's gate dark alliance looked amazing on the ps2 thanks to supersampling.

This, also tombraider will probably run at 60fps at launch

This is disappointing. I was really hoping for more "across the board" improvements for all users. I'm lucky enough to have a good 4k tv, but this is still lame news. Lame.

I'm getting it this holiday and a 4k TV next holiday.

It's entirely dependent on the developer. There are already games confirmed to be using the Pro to improve on the visual aspects of the game and not just use supersampling. I mean they showcased this on Paragon on the reveal event itself and then was further explained by Devs from Rise of Tomb Raider. Also the interview literally only has people from 3 developers talking about their game.
