Forums - Sony - Sony supported Mods in UT3 and Microsoft didnt where was the outcry back then? Media Bias

For starters, holy fuck do you actually listen to that guy on a regular basis? He can barely talk. Secondly, LOL @ mods making his disc get stuck in his system. Uh.. no, sorry. That's not how it works. Sucks that he had a bad experience with his PS3 hardware, but it's not a result of installing some shitty UT3 mods lol.

Also, what is the point of the video? It says "fallout 4 mod rant" but really doesn't touch a single point about mods on Fallout 4. It's all shitty footage of shitty mods from UT3. As someone who owns Fallout 4 on my PS4 and was very much looking forward to mods, what exactly am I supposed to take away from this video? It's ok that they are blocking Bethesda from putting up Fallout 4 mods because they allowed UT3 to have mods almost a decade ago?

As for the "media bias", has there even been a big outcry about it? Secondly, as I'm sure you know, the gaming media exists to get clicks. What do you think gets more clicks? A big outcry about MS not allowing mods on a title like UT3 on 360, or Sony blocking mods on Fallout 4 and Skyrim on PS4? Also, the fact that mods were never announced as a feature on the 360 version of UT3 is also a large difference here.

It was a shitty policy MS had last gen where they personally had to test every single thing released on XBL. You can't excuse a shitty policy from Sony that exists today because of a shitty MS policy from last gen LOL.

It just proves yet again the bias out there against Sony. Of course there was no outcry back then. It's all faux outrage aswell. Most of the people in uproar don't even play fallout 4 on ps4 and aren't actually effected by this. Must be cool to bash the market leader.

Pack it up, boys. We've been found out. We really didn't want mods in our game.

Probably because nobody cares about Ut3.

In fact Unreal tournament III was considered a big time exclusive for Sony, even on vgchartz people expected some crazy things:

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=6645 Yep, I have not a single doubt in my mind that Halo 3 just lost it's greatness thanks to Epic Games!!!!

Lol.

OT: nothing else to see here, now excuse me while I play the Forza Horizon 3 demo:)

Based on Nexus. It's not just quantity either, Skyrim mods have almost 1 billion downloads on Nexus compared to 150m for Oblivion, 156m for Fallout New Vegas, and 108m for Fallout 3.

The Nexus?

There are far more sites out there for mods. Mod DB, for example. Skyrim has some of the best visual and game mode mods (I can't subtract that from it), but even doing a quick Google search of the best PC mods - plenty of articles don't mention it.

Besides, it's a wonder some leave out Counter-Strike when discussing mod impact. To me, Skyrim isn't, and has never been, the end all, be all for PC modding. And, please don't mistake my objection for hate. I'm not anti-Skyrim (although it was >>nothing<< close to Oblivion for me, but that's a whole other topic for another day).

You are being stubborn. The quantity of mods and downloads speak for themselves. Modding was a part of PC gaming way before Skyrim, no one is denying that, but Skyrim is the game that pushed that aspect to new level when it comes to mainstream awareness.

Bethesda are the only devs that get away with releasing broken and very glitchy games with underwhelming visuals.

They feel very, early-accessy

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

Did they announce the Xbox 360 version would have mod support? If not, there's a world of difference there.

I still don't know whom to believe in all this, greedy ass multinational corp or "if it's broke, don't fix it" developer.

Eh, nah. Modding was a big deal long before that. Zillions of Oblivion mods prior to that, for example.

I would say in the eyes of mainstreaming gaming media (Youtube, Memes, etc.), Skyrim is really what took it off. Half Life had it as well, and most likely the most famous for the gamers at the time.

I disagree. Minecraft is what made mods mainstream, not Skyrim.
