My 11 year old Steam account now has 26 games, so 21 real games.

Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition at 439 hours takes the lead.

Age of Empires 4 at 17 hours.

Huh. Still have 26 games and now 12 years old. Dang, I didn't buy a new steam game.

Age of Empires 2 Definitive Edition now at 576 hours. Slowing down there too.

Age of Empires 4 at 17 hours still, I guess I quit at the time.

Dota 2 got more playtime at 166 hours, but kind of quit again.

Up to 35 games.

Age 2 up to 702 hours. Kind of quit because of...

Age of Mythology Retold at 108 hours.

Hearts of Iron IV snuck in at 508 hours. More than the other Paradox games combined.

I've gone from 283 at the beginning of 2024 to:

12 more games, of which 9 during the Winter Sale. It should really be 297 as I got Mass Effect Legendary Edition and that has 3 full games in it (and a bunch of DLCs, which are the main reason to buy it).

The fact that I have more DLCs than games bothers me, but I got most of them from GOTY or similar editions.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

18 months later:

Steam: 332 (+51); also 5 movies

GOG: 700 (+97); also 9 Movies (+1)

Uplay: 23 (+1, with the exception of the very first Settlers, which ain't available on GOG, all freebies or free-to-play)

Itch.io: 73 (+19; plus at least 150 from 3 bundles that I haven't linked with my account just yet)

battle.net: 3

GamersGate: Still only 8

Impulse: 42

Desura:2

Quite a bit git added in those last 18 months, especially on GOG to my surprise

One year later:

Steam: 386 (+54); also 5 movies

GOG: 729 (+29); also 9 Movies

Uplay: 24 (+1, with the exception of the very first Settlers, which ain't available on GOG, all freebies or free-to-play)

Itch.io: 73 (plus at least 150 from 3 bundles that I haven't linked with my account just yet)

GamersGate: Still only 8

Impulse: 42

Desura: 2

Less got added in the last 12 months, but I'd say that's already a sizeable collection.

That should not bother you, because it means you have more of a completed experience than you would have thought you had - GOTY, Complete, etc are usually the ones I go towards too.

My count as of January 4th 2025.

I don't regret having them but, given that I'm against how most publishers use DLCs to sell content that should have been in the game since launch or, in my opinion, useless cosmetics, I still feel a bit like an hypocrite for owning so many of them.

But it's really easy to just end up with a lot of DLC. There's always a bundle of some sort that includes DLC as well, or maybe a bundle with the DLC included costs only a little bit more. Or maybe there's something you really wanted and it didn't cost an unreasonable amount. Additionally, only few games get major expansions only anymore. Nowadays it seems quite common to split things into smaller pieces, sometimes even really small pieces, so it adds up quite quickly. I don't think I've bought all that many DLCs either, but somehow I own almost as many DLCs as I own games. I've bought some for sure, but I'm not exactly eager to buy DLCs. It feels like it's only a few games where I've bought a notable amount of DLCs, even them mostly in bundles, yet here we are...

And to clarify, I'm not exactly of the way DLC is done today either. On the other hand, I don't really mind cosmetic stuff, because I can just stay away from it and let others pay for the increasing development costs to satisfy their vanity (not that I too don't have that, but I keep it in check).

Ii is, indeed, easy to end getting lots of DLCs when buying GOTY/Complete editions even thought one may one do it for the content expansions that are included with it. A good example is the Assassin's Creed games, where the Gold Edition usually has extra content that expands the game, but also comes with extras that are less interesting.

But well, even when games were only sold phisically, there were expansions for them and no one complained. I remember buying the expansion CDs for the first two Age of Empires and was quite happy with them. But those expansions always brought new content, not just new wardrobe items or weapon skins.

I do admit, tho, that I voluntarily bought two cosmetic DLCs, both for Euto Truck Simulator 2, but for a reason: one is the pink ribbon paintjob that gives the money to research breast cancer and the other is the Ukranian flag paintjob, that also gave the money to support the refugees back when the war started.

My Steam numbers might be a bit different because I use to add individual games even if they are part of a collection but stopped doing that years ago.

But here's my full library across all platforms I have access to

Ok, now you two are just showing off .
