Probably because they're still advertising it, at least in the US. I still see TV ads for it on the Cartoon Network on occasion. Same reason a lot of stuff sells well really.

its a cheap game that parents buy their kids to keep them occupied.

Because of people like my sister in law who bought her kids thier first console.

Poor kids got a Wii with WiiPlay and they have since added Carnival Games and DDR. She made her husband take back Guitar Hero III by the way.

Because the only thing that moves this industry is hype. That's why Wii is the no.1 console ATM, why PS3 is so strong in Europe, why Monster Hunter breaks the charts in Japan, etc.

Carnival games is a very well marketed product towards the casuals.

because it's awesome, it's like being at a real carnival anytime you want but at home, and who here doesn't like carnivals?
