This thread will end well.

On topic Consoles are made to play GAMES. The GPU and CPU are being upgraded and its also coming this year.

Not for me, I watch all my movies through my console and I spent as much time doing that as playing games. Now I'm going to have to switch. Really disappointed in Sony.

Isn't a console ment to be the center of your living room? I Meen the PS2 introduced that with the DVD player, the PS3 with the blue ray, which was a very big selling point. The PS4 and Xbox One just enhanced that experience, UHD is a platform Sony itselfs benefits most from. It seemed like a logical choice.

Both of you are right, in your own way, yes a console is made to play gaming.

But lets be honest, they are releasing a PS4 Slim, for gamers who just want to play games.
The PS4 pro is introduced for people who have a 4K TV or want to get a better experience, isn't a UHD player a better experience for people with a 4K TV?

To be fair phones were made to make calls...

How many 4k blurays do you even plan on getting? Unless you are a movie collector, I doubt the 4k push is worth it.

I'd wait for the Scorpio if resolution in BluRay is that big of a deal for you

The S isn't that expensive and everything he buys will be compatible with the Scorpio right, I meen when you buy a $300 console you get a controller ($60) and a game, halo or fifa 17 ($40) anyway so you basicly only spent $200 to start that collection 1+ year early

Well if he's looking for something with better 4K playing and he wants one in the near future, sure. But if the whole thing is about having a system thats really powerful and can play 4K BluRay, then he might want to wait. He could still buy games for the Scorpio while he waits for it to come out and save $200. Personally, I'll probably get a X1 S myself sometime in the future -4K doesn't really interest me. So having a X1S is good enough for me, plus its got a nice design to it. But at the end of the day it's what he chooses I suppose XD

The big problem is he sold his PS4 lol, proberbly the best thing for him would have been to not sell his PS4 and wait, but now that he has already sold it and PS4 doesnt offer what he wants, the XBox one S is the smarter move, since you should never buy something you don't want to, but yeah, the PS4 as a game machine is just fine and the Scorpio will be the better 4K experience, so you are right, but he sold his PS4 to early :P

Yeah, this is why I am not buying the story in the OP. Never the less, one sale lost and probably millions more gained.

Yeah he did. But as long as he's happy with his decision thats all that matters really

So basically I sold my PS4 a month ago in anticipation of Neo. I'm getting a 4ktv this fall, but now that the Pro doesn't even play 4k Blurays I'm basically screwed by Sony. I'm not paying another extra 200-400 bucks for 4k BR player AND a PS4 Neo. I might as well get an XBox One S now because it's one of the cheaper 4k BR players and just game on that since I doubt the 4k games on the Pro will run that great. And no Netflix is not good enough, the whole point of getting a 4ktv is for the best image, a stream is not going to match a 4k Blu Ray. So basically I'm being forced into an Xbox. Now I'm wondering if I should just ditch the PS ecosystem entirely and just wait for Scorpio next year which is going to be more powerful. Sorry Sony but you just lost a customer.

The cheapest player on the market is teh samsung at i think $400. Then it's Panasonic at like $700.

So yes One S is cheapest.

Also Netflix will be on whatever 4k tv you get. I can't imagine there is any 4k tv that is not a smart tv, thus don't need anythign extra to play netflix. (which makes me wonder why there is a 4k roku player)
