This impresses me about as much as the Pokemon Go announcement

They are slightly less doomed. Once they show off the mobile Animal Crossing game they will be 0% doomed!

Their focus on mobile gaming (ewwww) makes me worry about their support for consoles. Would hate it if the NX turns out to be just like the Wiiu

Animal Crossing: Free To Play. Spend 99 cents for one piece of furniture or clothing.

Pretty sure I heard those same sentiments from everyone when Pokemon Go was announced and shown off. You never know what something is truly like until it releases. THere are plenty of times that a game looks like just another version of something, and yet then turns into a game changer. I mean look at Hearthstone. I took that as just another card game and was not excited about it. Yet now every new card game copies Hearthstone instead of the older card games like Magic. This Mario game may look like just another endless runner, but I'll wait to see it released before I give it a review. |
I certainly didn't hear that when Pokemon Go was announced, and I'm not sure why you would have. There are literally thousands of endless runners. The only game really like Pokemon Go (that I'm aware of at least) is Ingress. Pokemon GO was obviously ambitious, and I remember most people being very excited.
Sometimes you do know what something will be like. There's only so much that can be done with an endless runner with controls based on one finger touch controls. It will be what it is. And it will probably be enjoyable, but I was hoping the first Nintendo developed mobile game with one of their IPs would be a bit more inspired.
Dr. Mario would be a great mobile game, maybe a Mario Party mobile also...

So because they make a couple of mobile games, which plenty of other companies such as Sony have as well, their focus is on mobile gaming now to you?
This are most likely just sideline projects for Nintendo. They see that they can make millions making quick and easy mobile games on the side of already supporting their own consoles, so why not go for it.
Going by that logic I guess Sony's main focus is mobile gaming as well seeing as how they released PlayStation All Stars Island or whatever it was called on mobile.
