Publisher: "OK Nintendo, here's our lineup of NX titles for launch until 2019. We have 23 games total, we're really excited!"

Nintendo: "Oh, those dev kits? Those aren't real, We'll send you the real kits tomorrow!"

Publisher: "WHAT?!?! What do you mean not real?!?!? We've set up teams, studio space, and hired hundreds of new staff! We've already sunk 144 MILLION EURO ON THOSE NX GAMES!!!!!"

Nintendo: "Good joke isn't it? We spent 90 million on putting together those dev kits."

Publisher: "WHY!?!? WHY?!?! WHHHHYYYYYYYYY?!?!?!?"

Nintendo: "To fuck with our fans."

Actually a long time ago at a Nintendo investor meeting the late Iwata was asked about the unified architecture and how many devices would use it. Iwata told him basically "as many devices as the customers want."

All the versions of NX will use the same architecture, so any games made will work on all the different versions. Their might be a home only Nvidia micro console coming too. Many form factors.

February 2014:

“It of course does not mean that we are going to use exactly the same architecture as Wii U, but we are going to create a system that can absorb the Wii U architecture adequately. When this happens, home consoles and handheld devices will no longer be completely different, and they will become like brothers in a family of systems.”

Iwata then cited Apple’s iOS architecture – which works across iPhone, iPod and iPad devices, allowing the same games and experiences to be enjoyed across all formats. He wants this technology for Nintendo via a shared platform.

“To cite a specific case,” he concluded. “Apple is able to release smart devices with various form factors one after another because there is one way of programming adopted by all platforms. Apple has a common platform called iOS. Another example is Android. Though there are various models, Android does not face software shortages because there is one common way of programming on the Android platform that works with various models."

“The point is, Nintendo platforms should be like those two examples. Whether we will ultimately need just one device will be determined by what consumers demand in the future, and that is not something we know at the moment."

I suppose it could be possible, but I dunno if Nintendo would even take steps like that to leak fake info just to lead things astray. That's just not really how they work.

Yes, that's the statement I was referring to. Thanks. My Iwata quote was not exactly accurate, but he implied that their is a possibility of more than one device.

She has predicted things like Mario Kart games for Nintendo systems and predicted that big games will launch around November, She's really good!

On topic... no of course not, as others said that would burn all bridges with 3rd parties and would have cost them a ton of cash.

You know the current concept is so bad that it could be considered a 'joke' that Nintendo would send everyone to get peoples hopes down.

Now, if it turns out to be just like everyone says it is, you have to admit it's bad.
