"Betrayed" probably isn't the best term to use, but I think this direct (which was totally AWESOME if you're a New 3DS owner) kind of inadvertently hammered home where Nintendo's priorities currently lie. I don't regret buying a Wii U; I have about 15 or so games for it and I've enjoyed the majority of them, but the last two years seemed like Nintendo wasn't putting out as much effort as they used to on the Wii U side of things (at least that's my impression). They never abandoned the Wii U completely, but it just seemed like a lot of stuff slowed way down.

I can see where the frustration over Nintendo focusing on 3DS versus the Wii U comes from, don't get me wrong. There's been many, many times over the past 20 years where I wish a lot of the effort put into handheld games was put into console games, and not just from Nintendo.  I'm just not really seeing why people are upset that Wii U games are being ported to 3DS. And I own both systems.

Again, it's not so much the literal act of porting Wii U games to the 3DS, so much as what the subtext is.

Obviously, putting games on a console that has sold 60 million, and porting them from a console that has sold less than 14 million, does make financial sense, and even as a Wii U owner, I don't disparage New 3DS owners for getting access to these games.

But from a Wii U owner's perspective, it does look like all the focus is going away from the Wii U. Even if it is justified from a business and financial standpoint, it can leave Wii U owners feeling frustrated.

Also, by putting formerly exclusive Wii U games on the New 3DS, Nintendo seems to be inadvertently discouraging people from buying Wii U's in the future, thus further cementing the impression they're abandoning the system.

Wii U is the worst Nintendo console ever. Worst library too, outside of Xenoblade X.

That is harsh, Virtual Boy feels left out.

Virtual Boy is not even a console...

Just because it is was portable does not mean you could actually take it around. It was pretty much a console.

I would say the N64 is the worst console.

Far from it. N64 had classics. Wii U don't, except X.

I have been happy with it, I bought it for the exclusives and it has a very respectable number of good ones, way better than the competition for me.

I wish its live was longer but is totally understandable that they are giving it a shorter life span to its less successful console ever, is common sense, but they didn't dropped support after one year like we have seen in other cases of similar failures. It also happens to have the most addictive and fresh game of the gen by now imo, Splatoon.

This whole reaction to the fact that 3ds is getting 2 way inferior ports of wiiu games 1-2 years later looks dumb.

Why are you lumping games and consoles together now? You said the WiiU is their worst console and has the worst library.

Splatoon dude.

N64 is kind of a weird console, arguably had the best 1st/2nd party Nintendo games (Mario 64, Zelda: OoT, Zelda: MM, GoldenEye, Banjo-Kazooie, Perfect Dark, Wave Race 64, Mario Kart 64, Blast Corps, Star Fox 64, Diddy Kong Racing, Conker's BFD) but probably the most "droughts" because of the cartridge format.
