Will be unlikely for Nintendo to reveal a new or big IP for this direct. Saving it for the NX is the way to go

Although Smash may be on the 3DS, Wii U is by far the better version. Xeno X, Tokyo Mirage Sessions, and Bayo 2 are great reasons to own one as well.
