Forums - Sony - SONY SHADOW new smartphone concept

Nice concept but without software support pretty much useless. Also people would probably love to pay 50% more than a similar specced phone without the gimmick.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

So it's basically just a second touch panel and not physical buttons? Eh .... what's the point really?

It's easy enough to type on modern phones because the screens have become bigger and bigger and the d-pad/buttons thing is kinda pointless too because there's still no physical button feedback.

And this makes the phone much thicker than a regular smartphone. Just don't see it taking off.

The article lost credibility when it stated Sony is one of the largest tech companies in the world. It should say it was. Also, why do they keep trying to break into the phone business? Even MS quit that and they were doing way better then Sony selling phones.

It still is. Sony is huge.

Who is Sony?? :P

I am not a big fan of playing games on a mobile, even with proper buttons, but this concept does look interesting, not for me tough.

I think its doubtful it will ever go out of being a concept, the market is very small for this.

Nice concept, "bad" product. It would be a niche device and additionally also very expensive, making it even more niche because of the price.

I thought the NX was going to be something like this, at some point during the rumor avalanche this last year.
Wasn't sony supposed to announce a new portable at it's next event?
It probably won't be this, since these concepts were pushed out by Sony pretty unceremoniously now, but I could see them doing something similar to capture the japanese market with it.

the upper screen would break in 90 seconds for 99% of the people...

Looks kind of like a blackberry from 2009.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Cool concept but it would be very expensive and niche. Also why use a 2nd screen over physical buttons?? Buttons would be cheaper and probably have a larger appeal.
