Forums - Gaming - 37% of XB1 S 2TB sales were funded with trade-ins

How often do you think gamers buy preowned consoles? I have never bought one (just preowned games)

Gamestop shoppers are not the brightest bunch. I mean, the stores will literally sell you an opened game as brand new.

I think the last time I bothered to buy a used console was the original Xbox. Some pawn shop was having a deal too good to pass up. Well, the first four I tried did not work and when they brought out two buckets full of used PS2 and Xbox consoles and told me to pick another I just got a refund.

Before that, maybe a 3DO? Which worked great and I resold for a nice profit.

Why does buying a perowned console at gamestop make someone stupid?

I have personally not bought one but I can't see how I'd come to the conclusion someone is stupid for buying something they want to buy.

l <---- Do you mean this glitch Gribble?  If not, I'll keep looking.

Gamestop will be skewed much higher than other vendors on the trade-in % solely based on their advertising scheme. That said, 37% is a pretty large number. As others have expressed though, I will be surprised if the PS4 upgrade isn't a higher %.

You do realize what the stat is? This isn't even an guarantee of completely new owners, but that more than 1/3 of their sales were from people trading their current stuff in. That's not growing your base, but it does mean you have a lot of hardcore fans willing to double dip.

It is a good upgrade, a 2TB HD + 4K Blu-ray player and  40% smaller than the Xbox One.

What does that have to do with what I said?

Neo trade in is prolly gonna be like 90% lol. New buyers will likely get the cheapah Slim.

I want  NEO, but it will be so hard to get rid of this sweet pupy with a 2tb hdd/

PS. Game is garbage, but the skin looks amazing.

like others have said, I see a lot more people selling the fat one on ebay or to friends, they get a lot more than what gamestop offers. I really see this number being over 50%.

when the neo and scorpio comes out, it can really be over 80%, cuz that will really be an upgrade.

37% were just people upgrading? That's a pretty big number, I thought the UHD drove would attract more new users than that.

63% new buyers isnt a small amount. Thats pretty good especially since the Slim is selling well. I put it under a good success and im sure MS do aswell.

Number will only increase with more 4k content hitting the homes.

While it is a majority, considering the new features like the UHD drive, this is a smaller-than-expected number.

However, I would expect you to disagree.

I mean that it is a good upgrade. Don't need to be a hardcore fan to trade a Xbox One  for some $ and purchase a Xbox One S.

I mean, it's not really affecting any of the game parts. I would imagine that most casual owners would either not know a new version exists or wouldn't spend money on an upgrade that won't improve any of the games they have or give them access to any new games.

I am not suprised this number is a smaller than you expected. What exactly were you expecting?
