Forums - Gaming - New PlayStation Handheld Announcement Coming At PlayStation Meeting (RUMOUR)

What if it is a new vita model?

Might be this.  I wouldn't mind a successor because I love my original vita but I can't see Sony risking it again because of how the handheld market has been affected.

A remodelled indie focused vita at 100-150 could be attractive.  Please add r3 r2 and l3 l2 buttons for remote play! (Beaten!)

Didn't Neogaf already debunk the wifi stuff tho? Idk dude, I shall remain skeptical

It wasn't debunked, but it was just confirmed as not really being evidence. The Wifi Chip was filed by Sony Interactive Entertainment I believe so it's something to do with gaming, but there's no real evidence to assume it's for a new handheld. The module number "J20H091" is NOT the number used in the Vita as this article and several people have claimed.

Vita Number - J20H056

Ps4 Number - J20H071

This Number - J20H091

Well... The "rumor" was suggesting that it was evidence that there might be a vita 2 in the works and neogaf confirmed that it is not really being evidence... That sounds like debunking to me...

Also, I might be miss reading what you are saying here so apologies if that is the case but... "The module number "J20H091" is NOT the number used in the Vita as this article and several people have claimed."

"The module numbers are AW-CB262 and J20H091, which correspond, respectively, with the model numbers for the modules in the PS4 and the PS Vita. The PS4 wireless module being there makes sense- we already know of new PS4 models incoming. but what is the PS Vita doing there at all?

That sounds like they are saying that the module number does relate with vita's modules numbers to me which is false.

Yep, pretty sure it is indeed wrong. AFAIK that is NOT the module number in the Vita.

I like Sony PS products...but please dont do this

I love my vita, but this makes no sense.

I can't see this fairing well if it doesn't have pokemon.

I applaud their guts for trying again if they are but I can't see it doing well.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

with so much new Sony HW releasing this year I think it would be detrimental to announce a new handheld at this point, although the Vita has been dead (outside of Japan) for quite a time

Am i the only one who thinks that this is the single most stupid thing sony could do?

They cant even get their Smartphone dept off the ground and then they consider going into handhelds again?

I am taking this rumor as false simply cause I think it's too stupid a thing for them to do.

Even Nintendo who is the king of handhelds are revising their handheld strategy all thanks to the growth of mobile.

I don't see it happening. Even if it does happen, how long before Sony abandons it? Vita left a bad taste in planty of mouths. I don't think that doing it again will make it better.

Sony has too many devices to try to make games for and not enough developers. Lets be honest. If Sony had to choose between PSVR or Vita 2, they'll devote their resources to PSVR.
