You can backup your PS4-data since firmware 2.50 on a USB-HDD... so it is not useless, especially if you want to transfer the data to a different PS4 model (f.e. from launch-PS4 to PS4 Neo). And you don't want to backup or restore 0.5 - 2.0 TB with USB2.0

Well, that depends on if you have many small files or many big files but sure, for backups it might be useful. But that's basically the only thing where it makes sense.

I've used it too for stuff recorded in the capture gallery, some massive video files that were taking up space, just popped in a usb drive and transferred them off the PS4 onto the PC for easier storage and uploading to youtube after some editing. The speed of the USB ports matters for fast transfer of large video files.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

I dont really care about the console on the outsides looks, It looks fine imo.
They just have to nail that 249$ price point.

Honestly the fact that it doesnt have ultra-hd blu-ray who cares? consoles are for gameing on.
It ll still be those 30-40% faster than the xbox one, in the area where it matters, games.
No HDR is maybe abit dissapointing, but seeing as I dont have a HDR tv... meh.

- there are people that think uhd is a nice feature to have

- consoles are not for gaming alone anymore, not since the ps2 and its dvd player

- hdr is really expensive currently but the picture is definitely a *lot* better due to the increased bit depth

- nobody doubted the power the difference to go away with the redesigns

but I think the same applies to VR - you have to see it to believe it.

BR sales aren't exactly setting the world on fire and there is no reason why UHD BR will do it either. The most important thing will be UHD streaming services.

Can't say I'm a big fan of the new look. I prefer my regular PS4, the design just seems more bold and eye-catching to me. Not that it 'really' matters what a console looks like at the end of the day, still plays games

I said it matters for large files and this is because I think it's dumb to not give people the option to put games on an external drive.

After watching the unboxing video, I quite like the new look. I think the OG PS4 does look premium and more stylish, but I thought that about the fat PS3(so nice), PS2 and PS1. The first PS3 slim I liked alot too. No optical out port is a bit of a bummber as my Turtle Beach headset uses it so I'll need a HDMI to Optical device but I understand that optical is aging technology and is not lossless(where HDMI is lossless). I still think Sony should have included it though.

Now, does it fucken play 4k Blu rays???
