Forums - Nintendo - KH3 Momentarily Lissted for NX

NX will be the no.1 platform in Japan, it makes sense for it to get all the big Japanese games so long as it can handle a reasonable port.

It doesn't have to be a pixel perfect port, Japanese gamers don't care nearly as much about graphics, portability is much more important over there.

Isn't NX a handheld?
Doesn't the 3ds get KH games?

It's a portable, but that doesn't neccessarily mean a traditional handheld.

The series goes...

The series has a fairly strong presence on Nintendo systems, and as you pointed out, they're putting it on the XBox One anyway.  Assuming the NX is reasonably easy to port to, there wouldn't be any reason to avoid it, particularly since Kingdom Hearts has always been fairly popular with younger fans.

You missed Dream Drop Distance :P

Quiet you.

Nintendo handhelds =/= Nintendo consoles, and as I mentioned, SE made a pretty grand effort to consolidate the series onto Playstation last gen. On two discs, I can play (or watch) almost every KH game released, and they are continuing their efforts with 2.8 coming to PS4 preceding KH3 primarily meant for PS4. It isn't hard to see that even SE recognizes it makes sense to have all the games + the whole story accessible at least within a single series of consoles, and they have even said bringing the Remixes to this gen isn't totally out of the cards to potentially consolidate the entire series onto the PS4.

Now, if they do bring the Remixes forward, I could see an NX release of KH3 being feasible as then the whole series could potentially exist on PS4, Xbox One, and NX, maximizing series exposure. If they don't though, making an NX version based on "SE made handheld focused games for Nintendo because Japan loves handhelds" isn't the most compelling reasoning.

Point is Square Enix has no problem bouncing the series around.  Being able to play through the whole series has never been an issue, and it seemingly isn't an issue for the XBox One either.

As for the compelling reason, the simple reason is why not?  This is assuming of course that porting to the NX won't be much of an effort.  If that's the case, then it wouldn't really make sense not to.  Having more successful platforms is a good thing for everyone, particularly for Japanese developers, considering how Western developers are so dominant on the other two platforms.  If Squeenix thinks the NX will be successful, then it makes sense to have a presence there.

I doubt it. Looks more like a mistake than anything else

*sigh* Just nobody else quote me unless you are going to read my posts fully and properly counter my posts with logic and reasoning. It gets tiresome seeing that blue mark to see someone else basically just going "nuh-uh because *point that doesn't actually refute my reasoning and is parroting the because why not argument*".

Yes, I understand KH has bounced around. Now read my reasoning regarding SE's consolidation of the series and what would make sense surrounding that current idea and movement of the series as a whole. No, FF and Dragon Quest aren't comparable here. They released on the most popular console at the time and moved to the next console to hold the title, and otherwise have been subject to SE's attempts to leech the Japanese handheld market dry in more recent years. That is not the *current* (read: as of 2016) position of Kingdom Hearts.

Yes, I understand that the game is coming to Xbox One, and that already doesn't make sense. Frankly, it is a nonsensical waste of time unlikely to even recoup the costs of porting, no matter how simple the process between PS4 and Xbox One might be. SE is just hoping to grab the most out of the Western audience, since the Xbox One version clearly is not for Japan.

Yes, I understand SE has voiced interest in the NX. This is just the standard third party developer "it's new so we're interested" thing. It happens with literally every new console. How about we wait for real world results, eh? No, I don't care what rumor x or rumor y says about what the NX could or couldn't be. I'll wait for the Nintendo reveal before deciding it is going to revolutionize gaming forever as an undeniably attractive prospect for the Japanese.

Finally, yes, I actually read the article. If you had too, you would be even more convinced this is nonsense at this point in time simply because of how poorly thought out the reasoning is. It's reasoning built around desperation for Nintendo to be accepted by third parties that have denied them on the home console level for generations. Sorry if that argument does not sway me.

So if I see that blue mark again, do me a favor and give me good reasons why I'm wrong that extend beyond general Nintendo fan reasoning of "we really want third parties to notice us again".

Yes, Mickey Mouse on a Nintendo console from a Japanese developer that's already putting Dragon Quest on the system makes no sense.

Someone probably just ticked a wrong box. I really wouldn't read into this. As it stands, it hardly makes any sense that the game is releasing on Xbox One after they have gone to such lengths to consolidate the series to the Playstation line since last gen. Just tossing the third numbered but really something like 10th game in the series randomly on the NX would be silly at this juncture unless SE decides to voice plans to bring the PS3 HD Remixes to the current gen.

And how many Kingdom Hearts games have been on Nintendo hardware?   That's right.... several.

And how many times has Nomura and SE screwed the Nintendo handheld audience by re-releasing those KH games exclusively on PlayStation? That's right...Twice with the 2nd being now due to Nomura's HD collection plan to lead into KH3.

Dragon Quest X. AKA the MMO that has released on even the Wii at the end of its life, the Wii U that has been an objective failure, Windows, the 3DS, and Android, as well as upcoming on PS4. Excuse me if I don't think porting DQ X to NX, system #7 for the game, is a shining showing of commitment to the future of Nintendo.
