I knew the game had a lot of hype and would see big digital sales but I did not expect it to become the 5th fastest selling new IP ever at retail.
What happened there?

I saw an article it had the most successful steam launch of 2016 as well.

It's been on the internet dehype train for sometime before release. Enough so, that the negativity incoming on launch was very predictable

The negative reactions only existed because of the hype. Its funny how we try to make the negative reations more meaninful than the positive ones. This is an indie game. It was as Sean said self funded and developed by a tiny team. The results are amazing considering. The wave of negativity can blind people but thats why I recommend watching streams.

Funny how only the negative reactions matter and the positive don't count. If you like this game it seems it's only because you were tricked by hype and not because it's enjoyable to you.
It's insulting.

Agree with this statement. I like it. I don't get hyped for games like that so for me it was the actual gameplay that made me want it. Between PC and PS4 the game will easily clear 2 milion units sold. There is no doubt in my mind that they will invest their earning into making this game even better.
