Forums - Nintendo - Will NX get all three Super Mario games?

I'd like to see something like this become a tradition with each Nintendo system.
Where it gets:
- One 2D Mario
- One 3D Mario (They're all the same to me)
- One Mario Kart
- One Paper Mario RPG
etc.

I will take the "3D" style and the Star Collection style but I'm done with 2D Mario. At the moment, I feel that there's not much else the series can do. But 3D Mario has so much potential and I hope the Tokyo NPD/EAD whatever you call it now, can tap into 3D Mario's true potential.

Not sure we`ll see a proper 3D Mario game again. SM3DW seem to be the way they 3D games has evolved. Plus Nintendo seem to be really into making Mario games 4 player co-op these days.

3D Mario yes.

Nintendo talked about how they will change 2D Mario, so we will still have 2D Mario just not NSMB anymore, so new type of 2D Mario, and thats great.

First SM3DW is proper 3D Mario, second, SM3DW is basicly Mario 3D Land on onother level, but that doesnt they next 3D Mario game will be similar, I can see NX having something like Mario Galaxy and second game SM3DW 2.

SM3DW has way more fixed camera angles. Its designed for more than one player. SM64 wouldnt work as a 4 player game. Thats why I think future 3D Mario games will be more like SM3DW. Just like the Mario Party games. They seem to be more about co-op than competing these days.

Agreed. 3D World was too limited and simplistic, the huge open-ended playgrounds of 64 or the abstract levels of the Galaxy games were far more impressive and more befitting of a modern console.

New Super Mario Bros needs to die as well, it has run its course.

So beacuse SM3DW has fixed camera and its multiplayer game its not proper 3D Mario!? Do you realise what 3D Mario exactly means, its 3D Mario, its not fixed camera, single player 3D Mario game. :)     Its like saying Mario Galaxy is not proper 3D Mario game because it's way too linear compared to Mario 64 and Mario Sunshine.

Of Course that you can't judge on future 3D Mario games based just on one 3D Mario game, its like saying that after Mario Galaxy games all future 3D Mario games will be similar, and reality is that evre 3D Mario game is very difrent from one another. Nintendo stated that next 3D Mario will be new kind of Mario game.
