Forums - Nintendo - Devs behind Pokemon Uranium fan game remove download links after takedown notices

"After receiving more than 1,500,000 downloads of our game, we have been notified of multiple takedown notices from lawyers representing Nintendo of America.
While we have not personally been contacted, it’s clear what their wishes are,
and we respect those wishes deeply.
Therefore, we will no longer provide official download links for the game through our website.
We have no connection to fans who reupload the game files to their own hosts, and we cannot verify that those download links are all legitimate. We advise you to be extremely cautious about downloading the game from unofficial sources.

We are blown away by the response this game has received, and we thank you all so much for your outstanding support.
We will continue to provide Pokémon Uranium-related news and updates through our official channels.

You are welcome to continue discussing and sharing content related to the game on our forums and Discord, where there is a very active community.

Thank you for reading, and let’s share the love of Pokémon!"

So, Nintendo's black list just keeps getting bigger and bigger! Pokemon Uranium has officially joined the likes of AM2R,  the 3D browser remake of the first Zelda, Mario 64 HD and many others.

Shame. I forgot to download it in time, I'll look for one of those unnoficial sources later. Does it need an emulator?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Nope, Pokemon Uranium is not a ROM hack!

Nintendo has always been proactive in shutting down fan projects be it mods, youtube video's etc'. So I'm really not surprised.

Besides Skyrim mods, are there any fan projects for games not coming from Nintendo? I'm curious.

Considering the amount of fan remakes and fan games, Nintendo might actually have some legal issues if they let all of them proceed.

Umm... mods for games that aren't Skyrim?

Yeah, those! Are there any?

Why do people even do this?

Well, of course. There are many awesome fan-made games based off Sonic, Mega Man, Castlevania, Final Fantasy and other franchises.

It's a darn shame Nintendo shut them down after they just finished it. Should have just let it go. It's too late anyways. The game was finished and has been downloaded already, so it's going to be around on the internet somewhere.

Luckily I grabbed the game too before it was shot down.
