50% drop.... 100% would mean 0 sales.

Ooops... Yeah, for some reason I had in my mind doubling percentage instead of halving percentage... Forgive me!

No problem, just please don't kill the franchise yet =p

Oh please. Drop the shit, Don.
A lot of people weren't "hoping" for GT5 to flop, but it was expected to sell considerably less than the PS2 Gran Turismo titles by the majority, including PlayStation fans, simply because the PS3 was so far behind the PS2 in terms of software sales, attach ratio and hardware sales.

Expecting to sell less ok, but you know that there were a lot hoping. The amount of troll on it was pretty high, we can't look for all the threads on it, but going on the game database we will see all the hate that was going on.

Nobody? Are you sure? You are in here since 2010 to say that. We had plethora of people even cheering for a fail. People expected GT5 to flop and sell less than 8M, but ok if you want to ignore that.
The biggest Forza game haven't crossed what GT6 done and the series is on a decline. Considering the size of both Studios (PD around 100 and Turn 10 around 300) I don't see how GT 2 games per gen sales is comparable to the yearly release of Forza, the cost of the year releases of Forza doesn't align on the sales to make you say they are quite well against GT when you say GT6 haven't done good.

Lowered expectations isn't the same as hoping for failure. I expected Halo and Gears to see a drop but I love those series. Were there a vocal few hoping it would fail? Maybe. But you're exagerating.
GT6 would have also sold less if it was an annual series. GT6 was like $15-20 in a yeark, so lets not pretend that 5 million sold for $60. While Forza has a new $60 product with DLC every year. Its just a different strategy.

For most it was lowered expectation, but still there were a lot of people (we can say it's a minority, but still was a lot and sure it was vocal). I haven't put a number of people so how can we determine it was exagaration?
GT6 would sell less? Perhaps, Fifa and CoD are annual and they sell very high.
GT6 sold 1.6M from Oct-Dec of launch year. Let's make that 2M at USD60 (and that is considering the very wrong numbers of VGC on 3.21M total instead of 6M... so it could have been anywhere between 2 to 4M sold at full price) Forza 5 sold 0.9M in the same window... so let's put it at around 1M at USD60.
So considering both have similar budget (3 years 100 people crew versus 1 year 300 people - yes it release every 2 years, but with 2 teams, and I don't have the updated team size for each on Turn 10, but before it was 300 people on 2 years) GT sold twice as much on the same budget.
I have no reason to think GT would drop to forza level of sales going from what it is to annual or biannual.
