Forza 5 was a launch game that ran on 1080p60 on a console considered by many as underpowered. How many racers (or even games) did Sony release that did 1080p60 (locked!)?

I don't know about PS4, but GT5 and GT6 on PS3 ran at 1080p60fps. GT Sort also runs at 1080p60fps.

Even GT4 on PS2 runs at 1080i which is not 1080p but better than most PS3 and Xbox 360 games in image quality and still looks good.

Because of the crowd?! Are you serious? I mean, you probably are but that doesn't make it sound anything less weird, to be honest.

Yes, the game was downgraded to what they showed at E3 back then but every game always cuts corners, on every console because they are not magical power horses at all. That is why many choose 30 fps instead of 60 fps, for example.

But good to see that you agree that there is no Sony game doing 1080p60 because they focus on something different.

Yes they focus on different things in each game, Sony is not a developer but a publisher. Uncharted 4 focuses on resolution in singleplayer and framerate in multiplayer. TLOU Remastered and God of War 3 Remastered run at 1080p60fps.

Infamous Second Son and First Light run at 1080p60fps on PS4 Pro in high framerate mode. It looks amazing.

I'm not sure where those staff numbers come from and its seems to vary. Wikipedia for example says someline like 100-300. Maybe they had a large team when they were creating the Forza 5 because it was completely new and short development time, but who knows.

I doubt the 360 version of FH2 had a big budget. I own it, its kinda half assed but solid.

I think the overall sales are probably a few million higher than GT6 when digital is included. You know my view so stop going in circles.

GT6 also has digital sales and I don't think digital sales for Forza games would add that much to the sales. If you are going to post your views you should be ready for people to discuss them.

No. GT was not 1080p60 on PS3, that's factually wrong. It didn't feature 1920x1080 pixels nor a framerate locked to 60 fps.

And remastered games on the vanilla ps4 hardly count, in my opinion.

You're right. I would agree with the remaster thing but both The Last of Us and God of War 3 look amazing and on PS4 look better than Forza Motorsport 5. I do know that Forza Motorsport 5 has a more advanced physics system. Still both are Sony games and they could have made the games run at a higher resolution at 30fps.

But then GT6 on PS3 has dynamic lighting and weather and a day and night cycle which Forza Motorsport 5 doesn't have and still runs at 1440x1080 resolution and 40 to 50fps which is still impressive.

Yeah, GT6 also had digital sales. That's where the 5 million figure comes from.

I don't mind discussing but its gone on a tangent.

No, Forza 5 is still using superior assets that couldn't be repliectated on the PS3 or 360. For example the texture quality, car models, track detail, etc. While The Last of Us and God of War 3 are basically straight ports of what is mostly PS3 assets.

GT6 had more features such as the weather, lighting, etc. But it came at the cost of graphics and performance. I recall GT6 also had screen tear and ran a bit worse than GT5. Lastly, we already know Forza 5 was a rushed product, Forza 6 is a better example of what X1 and Turn 10 is capable of. More time was spent creating GT6 than Forza 5 and 6 combined.

Racers are losing popularity. The racing market is becoming exhausted. In the late 90's to mid 2000's it was fun to play racing games. The sales reflect the sentiment of fans. Racers need to go multiplat to reach older numbers.

Except GT5 is the second best selling game in the series.

One GT every 3 years would be more frequent than what we see now.

Forza's annual strategy generated more revenue than GT6. I'm pointing out the advantage of more frequent releases. By the way, I only mentioned the annual strategy of Forza because you were boastng about GT6 sales and how it compares to other games in the genre.

ND puts out games faster than PD. They also create games that will generate more profits via remasters.

Revenue is not profit.

Forza sales are quite disspointing and much of it is bundeling and sales.  Based on quality alone it should be double.  To me FH3 is easily goty.

They also have two large teams working contantly on it.

I wouldnd doubt it for a second GT is a hell of a lot more profitable.  The only logical business reasoning i can think of for Sony allowing PD and the nut job Kaz to go about thing as they have for so long is their profit margins must be some of the best if not the best from all sony devs.

We know Sony has no issue shutting devs down.  Good luck arguing agianst near 80 million sales form a single team, not a massive one at that.

The reason Sony lets the nut job run it like its his  own fiefdom is it basically is, Polophony  unlike the other studios is not subject to Sony world wide studio control, the reason being it is a fully owned subsidury with it's own board and operating capital , Kaz is President as well as head of the 3 man board ,it's also  the reason that unlike any other studio you get sales numbers direct from  the Polophony website.

More calendar time (3 years for GT6 from GT5, and 4 years from Forza 4 to 6)? Nope. More manpower hours? Could be, but you have 0 evidence for it.

The Last of Us and God of War 3 do have very impressive detail for PS3 games. Characters in Uncharted 2 have 80k polygons and The Last of Us probably has more. The environments are also very detailed. God of War 3 has an incredible scale especially the titans. It also has dynamic lighting when using the head of helios. Forza 5 has very detailed cars and roads but the environments aren't very detailed with crowds being sprites and the game only has one weather condition and very less use of particle effects.

We were talking about Forza 5 here not what the XB1 and Turn 10 are capable of doing. Forza 6 doesn't have the same problems and looks amazing even on XB1. The best comparison can be made between Forza 6 and GT Sport in terms of graphics when that releases.

That's the reason I mentioned the blur , just goes to show that creating a more powerful console brings new problems to solve. sure  your extra power gets rid of PS1 type pixilation but you end up having to deal with aliasing problems bought about by increased fidelity ,so you have to work out solutions to the new problems, usualy this type of R&D means improvements in the future except  on this occassion they used vasaline.

The other subject talked about in this thread ,in regards to the most powerful console not winning .I tend to think it is more like early console catches the games and audience and the PS4 is unique in the fact that yes  it was more powerful but the difference is it happened to come to market at around the same time as the Xbone,

Wii was in a similar position, in that like PS4 it launched a year after one competitor and around the same time as the other.

There are some differences, for instance gamefreak owns, iirc  50%  of the pokemon company , where as Polophony is fully owned by Sony, but for reasons I'm not to sure of it was a long time ago, they decided to create Polophony as a subsidury rather than a studio, most likely to help insure Kaz's continued involvement since GT was his baby , and you have to remember it was the PS1 era, so Sony's need to build up successful Ist party IP's to augment it's 3rd party efforts on a new console meant they had a premium  and when you have one with sales right up there with the biggest names in gaming, why it became a subsidury becomes clearer.

sorry about that must have clicked multi quote . do you know how i stop it.
