Forums - Gaming - Bethesda talks about The Evil Within 2 and Rage 2

Did The Evil Within sell well enough to warrant a sequel?

I do think both The Evil Within and Rage did well enough that we could make sequels.

Pete HinesWithout hesitation) Yes!
What about Rage?
Pete Hines: I think so.
So are they in the pipeline then?
Pete Hines: I can’t talk about the unannounced stuff and what we may or may not do. I get myself in trouble whenever I do that. Even when we were talking about the Morrowind Remaster, if I come out and say, ‘I just don’t think that is going to happen,’ then people freak out. So I won’t confirm or deny stuff we may or may not do, as people jump to the wrong conclusions. But I do think both The Evil Within and Rage did well enough that we could make sequels. Personally I loved Rage and had a tonne of fun playing it, but we have a lot of stuff in the pipeline right now so you will have to wait and see.

Yes, please, give me a goddamn The Evil Within 2. That game sold over three million units, had a cliffhanger ending that tease us enormously (both the original and the DLC content) and for fuck sake, it was the best game to come out of 2014!

Yes, yes she does.

Judging by the sale numbers we have on VGC both title did probably ~5 million when digital and lt shipments are included (TEW probably more as it had the advantage of being released on the new generation consoles as well). Neither did massive numbers (and Rage is probably seen as the lesser performer, considering that ID was behind it and it had a massive development cycle) but probably enough to warrant a sequel at one point in time.

I wouldn't mind sequels to both games, specially The Evil Within. That was one good game I must say.

Rage was a good game that was hamstrung by a non-ending and a relative lack of content. The core, however, was really solid. I'd like to see a Rage 2 if the story is improved and the world is bigger.

I'd love to see the first Rage game being remade using the new Tech 6 engine as well as the sequel.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

What about Evil Within have you played that too?

Would rather have Mikami make something else tbh. Wasn't a huge fan of The Evil Within.
