Yeah, I didn't even know GTA existed on mobile. But resolution and framerate means nothing if the controls don't work lol Do you play these kind of games on mobile yourself? Since I've never heard about this I'm prepared to bet that these "millions of sales" were practically for free. People who thought the idea to own GTA on their phone is cool, but it's an entirely different story if they actually played it. I don't see any "HD gaming" trend coming up on mobile in the near future and I don't think Nintendo has anything to fear from that segment. It's the Clash of Clans and arcade-style games that are a threat to Nintendo but they have already stolen a significant chunk of Nintendo's handheld audience, and it was already reflected in the 3DS sales compared with DS. I don't think there's any dramatic current trend we'll be witnessing anytime soon on mobile apart from Nintendo's own Pokemon Go and similar games from Nintendo himself. |
Nintendo doesn't own Pokemon go..... And Nintendo wants to target smartphone users not console gamers. They can try and release a tablet dedicated to games and maybe multimedia..... But we'll see, iPad and droid tablets are ruling that market and as cheap as $100 for a decent one that plays okay games....
GTA on Android alone has sold nearly 5 million, and more on iOS

1. Nintendo is really the sole participator in the dedicated handheld market (sorry Vita) and Although it's shrinking they have this 30-50m audience on lock.
2. On Top of that theyll have the additional audience from the tablet space. They don't need to outsell Apple or Samsung in order to make meaningful sales here. There are dozens of self sustaining tablet brands and room for competition, around 200m+ tablets are sold each year. Progess they make here is in addition to their core hanhldheld audience. None of the competing brands have the Use of Nintendos exclusive experience, the value of which Nintendo hope to increase through stuff like Pokemon Go.
3.You make blind comparisons to Vita software as if modnation racers and a watered down Uncharted is comparable to Pokemon RPGs and Mario Kart. Similarly decade late mobile ports and cheap spin offs don't make for a good comparison either.
Nintendo are merely looking to consolidate all their audiences interests into one convenient purchase. They'd need to mess pretty bad for it to fail. They should find enough success in Japan alone to make sure they make a healthy profit with NX
The NX won't fail, dude. Sales from Japan alone will make it successful to a certain level.

I don't think it will be the best sold console, or even sell more then the 3DS but I do think if the rumours are true it will sell around 50 milion and be concidered a moderate succes. Nintendo games sell and this system will be more appealing then the Wii U.
Also a big deal is that people who liked the Playstation Portables will need to look elsewhere for there portable fix, increasing the potential market a little for the NX

the people who are buying Sony portables now are miniscule so i wouldnt count on a lot of them
I have no interest in the NX but whatever happens if it´s a success I hope Sony doesn´t follow. I like Sony doing what they´re doing right now. I also don´t want another portable from them.
As for PS Now, that thing seems like a really bad call from whoever decided to buy into.
