How are they a disaster ? They are going on withou a hitch, the opening ceremony was quite beautfull and well executed (while spending only 1/10th of the money spent by London). Competitions are going well, the atendance isn't spetacular but its nohing atrocious either, its a very alright Olympics so far.

Yep. The ceremony was really good, despite the technical limitations it had (compared to previous ceremonies).
As for the Games themselves, with the exception of the the people that are facing 2+ hours of lines to get into arenas, and those who can´t buy food at them because the food vanishes quickly, and the several cases of thefts inside the athlete´s village, and the shortage of food in the athlete´s restaurant, and the overcrowded and irregular timed buses at the single BRT line that attends the Olympic Park, and the recently collapsed platform for sailing events, and the lack of proper signaling in some arenas, the lack of basic furniture, like chairs and tables, in the athlete´s apartments, and the still ongoing plumber and eletrical repairs in them, the games are going alright....... :P
Just like it was in the WC, Brazilian media is trying hard to cover any negative news towards the games. Competitions are going as planned and that´s a good thing, but for spectators and for the athletes (regarding accomodation), these games are still a mess. A quick look on social media is enough to see that.
