No need to abandon the boat.  With so few people boarding the boat, it won't sink any lower than it is.

70+ million is a few?

So, you assume a portable/console hybrid will sell 70 million post 2017 in a tabet/cellphone centric world?

You can't compare DS #'s, as most of the sales were pre 2014 when handhelds were a more active market.  Not a nintendo hater, as I have 4 DS's in my home.  just a realist for today.

I'm not assuming anything. You said, "No need to abandon the boat. With so few people boarding the boat, it won't sink any lower than it is."

3DS+Wii U have shipped roughly 73 million thus far, hence why I asked, 70+ million is a few?

At least half of that 73 million were burned by the Wii U. Most people will be apprehensive with the NX.

I don't think NX is here to "fight" mobile. Nintendo knows that's a fruitless endeavor. NX will embrace and use mobile, I think it will run Android apps (per Nikkei which is very reliable in the past).

So for $250-$300 I think you'll be able to get something that plays Nintendo games, Virtual Console games, maybe DS/3DS backwards comp, AND Android apps ... that's $100-$150 less than a 16GB iPad Mini.

And why not really ... Nintendo will be able to take home 100% of the profit/revenue from their own mobile games like Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem and future Pokemon games on mobile on NX, and also collect 30% licensing fees off other apps that kids go crazy for like Candy Crush, Angry Birds, Minecraft, and so on.

Iknow what you mean but it doesn't really do much for your stance tbh because lets for arguments sake say all Wii U owners were unhappy with it, that amounts to 13m people which still leaves 70m 3DS owners and the 3DS is a force in the handheld space and in general is one of the best platforms in history.

You're not giving Nintendo fans enough credit. Most 3DS owners knew how dry the Wii U was during and after launch. Common sense says to wait and see before preordering or buying the NX day one.

The problem is we're talking about a hybrid platform so Wii U's performance alone is completely negated by the 3DS' powerhouse run, what someone knows about the Wii U doesn't matter because the follow up platform is also a follow up to the 3DS which performed well.
