Forums - Sony - Months later, what are your thoughts on Uncharted 4

I enjoyed the game and might play it again some time.

But to me, I enjoyed it because they delivered a story that was good with believable characters. I miss that in my favorite genre the jrpg.

Gameplay was meh. Nothing new or nothing I particularly like. I put away the Last of us because of that.

Define a great game then. Why can't games focus on storytelling? Why do some gamers hate that so much?

Not to speak on behalf of the OP but games can certainly focus on storytelling as long as gameplay isn't forgotten. The problem is sometimes, games will focus so much on telling the story that gameplay will suffer. Might as well just make it a movie, the product would be better for it.

I wish they had more challenging puzzles but other than that it was a perfect balance of cinematics and gameplay. Gameplay is very polished and enough weapons and scale to tackle a situation exactly how you want. Also if you can master the rope it's a very powerful tool and adds another dimension to gameplay.

All in all U4 is a well polished game, perfect story pacing, good story, good gameplay, a graphical showcase and the best in the Uncharted series. Then you have the excellent multiplayer.

The best and most Uncharted game too date and the best PS4 game I played to this date. I would recommend to anyone which really loves series and movies, if ypu liked Until Daen you truely cant go wrong. If you prefer games to be focused purely on gameplay I wouldn't recommend it.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

I haven't beaten it yet, if I had to guess I'd say I'm about halfway, probably a bit under, so my final judgement will have to wait a moment.

It's a great game for sure, and it has the usual Naughty Dog polish, and adventurous feel. It's almost flawless technically. I do have to say gameplay-wise it's kind of beginning to get stale, Uncharted isn't really fresh anymore. I've recently completed Tomb Raider, right before getting started on Uncharted, and that game felt fresher due to some new and interesting gameplay elements while Uncharted for the most part seems to still lean on what worked before. What worked before was good though, obviously, but, I'm not sure to put it, it's kind of lost it's edge. I was impressed by the car level in Madagaskar I just completed, and the PS1 Crash Bandicoot easter-egg is probably the greatest easter-egg I've ever seen, barring maybe John Romero's severed head in Doom.

Anyway I realize that it's hard for a series such as this, which inherently doesn't keep reinventing itself because it keeps featuring the same characters in the same continued story, to remain original. So it's probably best that this is the last Uncharted game (hopefully). Uncharted 2 remains the best easily, it's one of the best games ever made, and for now I'd also put Uncharted 3 above 4, but we'll see how it develops. Uncharted 4 is great, but to me it's not the 'classic' 2 and 3 were.

Fantastic game, easily in my top top twenty of all time. Acting, environments, level design, combat mechanics, narration, cast, deeper dive into Drake's background and psyche, quite a bit darker that previous games in the series as well, and the new coat looks good on it. Just overall a truly fantastic game, better than The Last of Us, in my opinion, since it's simply so much more fun to actually play.

It's a good game. But not one of the best games ever nor the best looking game to date (not even close to any of these).

It's a master piece, plain and simple. Maybe some feel disappointing because it didn't have the same WOW factor as Uncharted 2 at the time, but that's just a matter of having too high expectations. However, if you're being realistic and compare it to any other game out there, it's definitely on a different level. That being said, I do think that Uncharted fatigue got the better of me as well. It's one of my favorite franchises, but I am kinda glad that it's the last part. I would love to see another the Last of Us or a whole new franchise from ND now.

It's a great game in retrospect. I loved exploring the locations and especially the stealth combat. Watching their patrol patterns while climbing / sneaking around the entire area was a lot of fun. I did use the screenshot mode now and then to get a tactical overview on my surroundings :)

Unfortunately the action got too heavy for me at the end, too many gunfights. Balance between stealth and gun fights was good until the last few chapters where you're forced to shoot waves and waves of enemies. Boss fight at the end was annoying, yet so was Uncharted 2's. At least it was less ridiculous.

The puzzles, although integrated well, were too easy. I don't think I ever hesitated once anywhere throughout the game. The only minor difficulty I had was escaping the police in the garden. I couldn't figure out what path the game needed me to take to trip the next cut scene.

In the end Uncharted 4 was so good I haven't played another game since... Haven't felt like starting another game and am now waiting for NMS to come out, catching up with my other hobby, movies.

Impressive game and something to remember. But as it is a story based game, it is like a movie, you dont want to watch it again immediately. But maybe later.
