Profit for this year is guaranteed, especially with Pokemon GO...Nintendo forecast for this year is profit of 35b yen and thats around $335m, we will see how much exalty will be profit at end of year, but some profit will definitely be there.

I understand your reasoning, but you can't invalidade his previous thread about Nintendo losing money by simply adding a forecast to it. His thread is correct now, while it will probably not be correct after the next fiscal report.

Either way, going by his small loss or your small profit really doesn't make a difference. Everyone know that Wii U underperformed so it's obvious that it would impact their profitability. 3DS kept it afloat. But now both are basically on the rearview mirror, I don't see much point in discussing their performance anymore.

With 3DS selling way less than the DS, even if the numbers are still respectable, and Wii U underperforming badly, I don't have to look at financials to know that they won't look amazing.

NX plus their mobile games is what can have a real impact from now on. The first one has to reinvent itself and counter the effects we saw in the previous gen. Pokémon Go is already here and is a success. If they manage to keep a good retention and monetize it decently, it will give enough money to guarantee some more games on mobile. They already showed interest in creating joypads for mobile devices, that could be great: imagine releasing 2D Mario games and an official controller? Equals profit for me. They can release a bunch of games on mobile without canibalizing their current console/handheld market and use the extra media attention to drive sales for their hardware business. I can see a 2D Mario game being released in the same time than a mobile joypad and a big 3D Mario game for NX, maybe even with one game unlocking items for the other. It will be interesting to see if Pokémon Go will have an impact on the sales of the next Pokémon for the 3DS and the hardware itself.

Other thread was focused on operating business, and if people look at those number they will think Nintendo have hundred of millions of loss and that not true beacuse curently overal loss is very small, so I made thread that is focused on Net profit, and Nintendo have just a small loss in net profit, less than $10, and most likely with Q1 of this year they will be become profitable this gen.

But this year isn't over yet and with how much the yen has strengthened recently a profit this year certainly isn't guaranteed...

Nintendo may or may not see much of the pokemon go cash this year or anytime soon-   it all depends on how much profit  the Pokemon compnany  decides to pay out to it s investors-     For ex when the Wii and the DS were making big $ s Nintenod did not pay out all or anywere close to that of its profits in dividends to its shareholders -  it paid some out to it s shareholders and retained the rest for future investment, to keep a healthy balance sheet-  so Pokemon Go may not have much effect on Nintendo s top or bottom line -

Also Nintendo s annaul fianacial forcast are often way off -  They will have a very difficult time making profit this year becasue they will have to replace lower 3DS sales and 2.4 llion less Wii U sales and they project selling on 50 million software (for wii u)    so that is a lot of revenue to make up via NX launch (if it launches in March) and mobile

When they forecast those 35b yen they definitely didn't expect such a huge success.

They forecast quite small number for Wii U for instance, only 800k Wii U consoles for whole year.

Even if they miss target, definitely will be some profit, at least $150-200m.

The fact of the matter is, Nintendo profitability is on a rise. And umm...this loss stuff really means nothing at this point. If Nintendo were troubled by this, we and the press would know it. But in regards tot the other thread, it stated facts, yes, but don't take these facts as insinuations that Nintendo is in trouble because that's FAR from the truth.

Indeed. But some people like to spin everything nintendo related so they can keep with their constant irrational talk for port begging and/or nintendo's hw dismiss. They may be a few (i'm not sure about this), but they like to comment too often. It's annoying

So the worst selling console in Nintendo history leads to a 9m loss? Whats the problem?

Yeah, that's probably what they were aiming for all along.

I know it's not ideal, but I've heard doom screams for the past 5 years... over what amounted to a 9m loss. Seems pretty anticlimactic to me.

You made your point in the other thread. This thread is really pointless because of that. If everyone posted a thread in response to other threads they didn't like....well this forum would be full of spam.

Just as the other thread was pointless and completely unnecessary!

The original poster in the other thread cherry picked his information so that it looked like a worse situation than what it is. Has this generation been a bad one for Nintendo? Absolutely. But considering there's still 8-9 months before the NX comes out, there's still time for the company to earn more money in this generation.

Is was just a thread about nintendo's situation "up to this point". It wasn't a doom thread. He even said it's likely to change in the coming months. No reason to be defensive over it.

Well this horse is dead, no need to dig it up anymore!
