In terms of confusing consumers I would just like to point out what Amazon UK has done. First of all, they clearly advertise the bundle as a PS3 with GT5 for £289.99. Only in the smaller print below do they actually call it GT5 Prologue.

The second thing I noticed a few weeks back is that they have completely removed GT5 proper from the site for the time being. It was definitely there before even the PS3 was released, like other sequels to major franchises, but at the moment it's not there at all. Obviously this is done to funnel everyone into the title being released and thereby maximising sales.

Now I'm sure most people make a completely informed choice. My problem is how this kind of marketing will affect the sales of GT5 proper among any ultra-casuals who might pick the game up (e.g. uninterested parents buying it for their 10-year-old kid who himself doesn't know much about it). These people might view the full game when it comes as an add-on or something like that and ignore it.

But, of course, the counter-argument is that PD have done this before with no problem, and hopefully they'll be right again.

Even if "ultra-casuals" buy the game, will they even find out, and care if they do? They got the game for cheaper and unless somebody says anything, they could easily go on thinking it is the full game.

It's not like the game is a rip-off, if you want the full version, this isn't that far off, and it is cheaper.

I think that 100k is low balling it for next week in others. The 40GB bundle has been in the top 15 for the last three weeks on amazon. I know that amazon is not a good indicator, but you got to figure that 3 weeks worth the backloged purchases on amazon has got to amount to a few thousand by itself. I don't know what would be a realistic expectation, but at the very least I expect it overtake the Wii, and DS.

I reckon there will be huge GT5P sales and there will huge GT5 sales a year down the line. PD will make big changes to the game to warrant paying again for another game.

Yea, and you don't want TOO good of a game, because you want to make sure people come back and buy the full game.

Really? I thought GT4 prologue was the first, preceded by the GT concept versions which followed GT3?

Actually, I´m pretty hyped for it but I´m still not sure if I should buy a Playstation 3 right now or better wait for Metal Gear Solid 4. And maybe there´s another price-drop this year?
