Forums - Sony - Sony on Neo announcement: "We didn't want to just rattle of a list of specs" + PSVR update

I call bull on a bit of that. Doesn't want to show a console coming in late 2016/early 2017 but will show games for holiday 2017 and 2018?

Or announce early and cannibalize sales for the following months before Neo launch while majority of people choose to wait and buy a Neo instead of a base PS4.

So no, it's best they did what they did. Keep it quiet then annouce neo alongside a PS4 pricedrop. Win win.

Scorpio was shown prematurely and unnecessarily. All we got from it was 6 Terraflops. They jumped the gun with Scorpio. They should have just let the One S take the spotlight for the rest of the year.

Scorpio was officially introduced because MS wanted to counter Sonys PSVR. Beyond that, they had nothing really new and fresh to show on stage.

"that you actually demonstrate what a device like Neo is capable of"

Isn't it just a more powerful PS4?

And? That's kind of the point.

You don't announce a new GPU without demonstrating how much better it is than the old, for example showing in hosue benchmarks.

So yes, people will want to see exactly how much more powerful the Neo is and how much of a difference it actually makes.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

Looked to me like the scorpio rumors made Sony pull Neo from their e3 lineup. And it was a smart move too. If Sony trotted out Neo with the rumored 4tfs it would have looked like a joke compared to Scorpio. Now Sony can try to put out something with a little more power.

At least thats how it looks to me. It also explains why we haven't seen hide nor hair of it even though its launch is a few months away.

Yeah, that was funny. Isn't that zombie game they showed twice in the show not coming until 2018 at the earliest?

They didn't want to reveal the weaker console after Scorpio was confirmed. Nothing wrong with that. We all know it's coming anyway.

That's not what we've been hearing.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I think all the games Sony showed at E3 are coming in 2017/early 2018 with the exception of Death Stranding. There's a reason Sony wanted to show them being played. GOW looked like a finished game. Not that I'm saying it's finished but that it's a long way into development.

I do not understand, don't people complain every year they need to show more games and less talky talk about numbers and hardware?

You're not wrong. Tons of people, myself included, always bitch about pointless number boasting, corporate BS, and talking about pretty much anything besides actual video games (such as TV shows, services, or new hardware without new software to show for it).

Oh, and wasn't it confirmed that Microsoft only put in the Scorpio announcement at the last minute this E3 because the S was leaked and they wanted a big reveal? The decision had nothing to do with Sony, and Sony's decisions at E3 had nothing to do with Microsoft. People still think a war is being fought for some reason...

Was it confirmed? Contradiction.

A war?

They're direct competitors. You know, like in economic competition. However, you're suggesting the actions of one doesn't influence the decision making of the other. Ok.
