Forums - Nintendo - I'm not gonna give up on Metroid... I actually do want another Metroid.

I like the motion control aiming for Splatoon. :|

Also you're comparing apples and oranges, Splatoon is an online multiplayer TPS, whereas Metroid would be more comparable to something like Uncharted or something. I do think Metroid has vast untouched potential, though something tells me Metroid would be better in the hands of Naughty Dog.

You're comparing apples and bananas.

Metroid reboot was a 1st person shooter, it had nothing to do with a TPS or Uncharted for that matter.

I said more comparable, as in the aspects of each game. Exploration. Finding key weaknesses of each enemy. Stealth. Puzzles. These are qualities of a Metroid game and Uncharted, no? (Might actually be mixing up Uncharted, haven't played the game itself lol)

Yes, Other M was great. The first-person aiming was a little awkward and there were some inexplicable plot points, but the rest of the game was excellent. Gorgeous graphics, moody sound design, slick and smooth combat, lots to collect and explore, etc.

But even if you want to discount Other M, you can't discount the Metroid Prime trilogy, Metroid Fusion, or Metroid Zero Mission - all done on Nintendo's watch.

Well, that's your own opinion. Many other people would disagree and consider Other M as an average game, even from Metroid-lover SomeCallMeJohnny himself, which is unacceptable for an acclaimed franchise. Also a lot what you said about the qualities of Other M are materials Naughty Dog would be really experienced at...

Whatever back to topic, yes I think there should be another Metroid. However, my point is that I honestly think whoever is managing Metroid has lost their touch. The last Metroid game was 8 years ago, Prime decade+ ago. So...I would be very cautious if there is another Metroid game announced.

I wanted another 2d Super Metroid. Maybe Super Metroid 2

Have you ever played a metroid game? Online multiplayer, like halo or destiny? Wtf you've this series have you? Prime 2 didnt even control like normal shooters the series is about exploration and isolation it has more in common with Zelda than CoD

They would turn metroid into a linear B movie. Personally I prefer to play this series not watch it. If a 3rd party dev was going to tackle metroid from software would be a better choice or maybe even the team behind dead space 1 and 2

If we're giving it to a non Nintendo related developer, I'd prefer From Software. Nothing against ND, but nothing in their past sticks out to me as good experience creating Metroidvania style games. The Souls' series, meanwhile, is about as close as AAA has gotten to Metroidvania since Corruption, and From certainly has experience creating atmospheric, moody locales and exploration heavy gameplay.

Lol

People, the wii controls aren't even that bad. Maybe you just screwed up and placed the sensor in the worst place possible.

Never have lag for any of the games I played. Yes, Star fox zero would've been cool with the option to not have motion controls, but whatever. It was a cool implementation that you can't get on any other console

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

Certainly, i was watching this uncharted 4 gameplay, and i totally hated how the characters would't shut the heck up, i want to explore a bit and appreciate the eviroment and visuals for miself, same happened with The last of us, you are supposed to be in an enviroment where you are supposed to be cautious and shit, and besides the terrible A.i. you get this cheap soap opera or B-movie dialogs, Metroid already got the "cinematic" treatment and it fucked the franchise so hard, i doubt Nintendo is rushing to make another one, they probably got the message as "we understand you audiences don't want games with chicks as protagonists".

Also Metroid Prime was a masterpiece, and the motion controls were superior in every sense for a game like that, and  now that i think it i would't call them "motion controls" at all, it's a pointer controlled game for the aiming, wich is far more quick and responsive than moving the analogs, just like the wii version of resident evil 4 is the best version.

guess i'm in the minority here. I didn't think any of the early wii fps controlled well until the conduit and subsequent fps that copied the control customization options. I still enjoyed corruption, but always hated how far you have to point the remote in a direction before you started turning and there was no way to change it. To me, the lock on controlling is what made the prime games control so well.
All that being said, i still enjoyed both versions of the trilogy and can't wait for the next metroid. Been a big fan since prime. Even liked otherM despite it's shortcomings. Coolest thing added to a metroid was the ridley life cycle imo. Would love another 3rd person affair too. Here's to a future metroid.

I love motion controls in Metroid, I actually think that Metroid Trilogy is game for which Wii motion controls best suit.

So you basically saying that Metroid on Wii wasn't so popular because of Motion controls and that is not true, actually Metroid motion controls on Wii were more fun, easy to use and very practical.

Also you cant really compare Splatoon and Metroid in any case and Splatoon definatly isnt so popular becuse dont have controls like Metroid on Wii. Splatoon is basically Mario Kart of shooters, game with huge market appealing and can be played buy people from 5-99, Metroid was always hard core game with much smaller appealing for just specific group of players.

About you desire for new Metroid Prime game, I am sure we will have new Metroid Prime on NX.
