Forums - Nintendo - I'm not gonna give up on Metroid... I actually do want another Metroid.

Yes I know I sorta raged when I played the awful Wii Motion controls Metroid Trilogy but that wasn't Metroid's fault... it was Nintendo's. I'm just really sick of Nintendo's "innovation's" ruining great games like Metroid Trilogy. Zelda Skyward Sword and Star Fox Zero...   If they made Metroid Trilogy on the Wii U with NO motion controls whatsoever... You'd SEE ME PRAISING the game on here.

I want Nintendo to try again on remaking this Trilogy on the Wii U OR EVEN ON NX and me enjoying regular controls will actually be fun. Now enough of the Trilogy... Let's talk about the next Metroid game, that's if it exists.

I see HUGE potential with Nintendo making a dedicated normal controller Metroid game. Take a look at Splatoon... it's a shooter WOW it got massive success for a new IP on the Wii U. Splatoon outsold a 3D Mario on Wii U. Thats how POWERFUL shooters are today. Imagine 1st person shooter on Wii U...    THAT WOULD DESTORY smaller Nintendo IP games such as Mario Party, Pikmin, and others... and it could be just like the Gamecube Metroid days again... but possibly better sales since Shooters are popular today. It can refresh the forgotten beloved Franchise and make it on top again.  On the side you can add possibly online multiplayer too, make huge 3d worlds, very similar to Destiny or Halo. NIntendo you can pull it off!

The precise and fast IR aiming was a VAST improvement on the sluggish GameCube controls.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I like the motion control aiming for Splatoon. :|

Also you're comparing apples and oranges, Splatoon is an online multiplayer TPS, whereas Metroid would be more comparable to something like Uncharted or something. I do think Metroid has vast untouched potential, though something tells me Metroid would be better in the hands of Naughty Dog.

Uhh.. Metroid's Wii controls were amazing lol. Much better than the GC.

Gotta agree. I loved the motion controls in Metroid Prime, and in Skyward Sword and Star Fox Zero for that matter.

And Nintation, why use Splatoon as model for success when that game is also built around motion controls?

Anyway, I do think Nintendo could use a FPS. Maybe something like Unreal or Turok. But Metroid is an action-adventure game and should probably stay that way. Although I've long dreamed of a Metroid spin-off based on the Republic Commando template. How awesome would that be?

Oh god no. Naughty Dog and Metroid would be poor bedfellows. The last thing Metroid needs is cinematic storytelling and scripted set pieces.

Metroid is already in the best hands. Nintendo just needs to actually make a new game.

Hm, just like how the latest Metroid game, Other M, went so well in Nintendo's hands?

Yes, Other M was great. The first-person aiming was a little awkward and there were some inexplicable plot points, but the rest of the game was excellent. Gorgeous graphics, moody sound design, slick and smooth combat, lots to collect and explore, etc.

But even if you want to discount Other M, you can't discount the Metroid Prime trilogy, Metroid Fusion, or Metroid Zero Mission - all done on Nintendo's watch.

I still disagree about the motion controls on the Wii version of Metroid Prime 1 and 2 being bad. Imo, they were great compared to the GameCube controller.

That aside, I would like to a Metroid game similar to something like Super Metroid and/or another Metroid Prime game (besides Federation Force which I have no interest in).

You're comparing apples and bananas.

Metroid reboot was a 1st person shooter, it had nothing to do with a TPS or Uncharted for that matter.
