Forums - Gaming - If there would be a 7th Gen Time Capsule, what 5 items would you put inside?

If we would have a time capsule to be stuffed with goods that can represent key things and/or events that represent what we had in the Seventh Generation of consoles,

1) What 5 items would you put inside?

2) What do those items represent or symbolize?

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

Around the Network

Hmm
Xbox 360
PS3
The Last of US
Halo 4
Skyrim

Wii remote - a wildly successful controller that disrupted the industry

DS - by far the most popular system of the gen, one that drew new fans to the medium

Halo 3 - the best-selling Halo game, a title emblematic of Xbox' focus on online gaming

The Last of Us - a testament to the industry's (regrettable) shift toward cinematic storytelling

Xenoblade Chronicles - the best game of the gen

Just a wallet. Empty.

bet: lost

Assuming we don't have to fit in entire consoles... And assuming that we can skip most PC stuff because PC doesn't have any proper generations.

  • The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (open-world games)
  • Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (shooters, online multiplayer)
  • Wii Sports (do I need to explain this?)
  • Minecraft (it's a phenomenon)
  • The Last of Us (gotta have a story somewhere on the list)

Shooters and open-world games were two things that became major hits during the 7th generation, so I think they deserve a spot on the list. Obviously online multiplayer deserves it too. Then there's two distinct phenomena that are hard to ignore, and finally something that tells a story while being an excellent game.

Around the Network

1. Call of Duty 4 (Probably the most iconic shooter of the gen)
2. Skyward Sword (It's a lot of what Nintendo was talking about with the Wii)
3. The Last of Us (I would call it the 7th gen's swan song)
4. Wii Sports or Wii Sports Resort
5. Minecraft (They'd probably still be playing Minecraft when they open capsule)

I didn't want to include consoles or anything because that feels like a waste of space.

Can't wait for The Zelder Scrolls 3: Breath of The Wild Hunt!

A Kinect, a copy of Guitar Hero, a copy of Wii Play w/ Remote, Nintendo DS, 20GB PS3

Edit:

Kinect: the culmination of our infatuation with motion controls

Guitar Hero: represents the newfound mainstream appeal of gaming.

Wii Play: Nintendo's simplification of gaming with a Wii Remote to go along with it

Nintendo DS: touchscreen gaming at the time. Wildly popular

PS3 20gb: powerful with Blu Ray and multimedia functions. The state of the art of the 7th gen but with surprising drawbacks

Wii Sports of course. Whether you loved or hated Wii, no physical home console release sold more and defined the home console generation more than Wii Sports. If that's not in there, something is wrong with the person making the capsule imo.

I have to pick just FIVE things!?!?! I was going to list a bunch of games.....

Uncharted
LittleBigPlanet
Gears of War
Halo 3
Mass Effect
Super Mario Galaxy
Skyward Sword
Assassins Creed
Fallout 3
Skyrim
The Last of Us
GTA 5
Borderlands
Smash Bros Brawl
Call of Duty 4
Mario Kart Wii
Gran Turismo 5

These are the games that defined the last generation.

The 5 consoles I guess. Ps3 wii xbox 360 ds and ps4.
