Forums - Gaming - Some "console fans" just accepted that PC is the superior gaming platform.

It's always all about software, hardware doesn't matter at all. If you're into all the Xbox exclusives, for sure a PC is the better platform from here on out, as the PC gets every game Xbox gets plus a ton of other games you can't find anywhere else. But if your favourite games are Super Mario and Tomodachi Life, you won't be happy with a PC, even if you have a GTX 1080 Quad-SLI Setup or something. If you love to play Uncharted and Little Big Planet, PS4 is the way to go. If you prefer Candy Crush Saga, get yourself an iPhone.

What matters is always software. Not device is absolutely better for you just because of some silly feature or some more Gigaflops. On top of that, everyone has a different taste. So which platform is the best depends purely on your personal preference. It's useless to discuss that. Just choose by the games available. Don't let yourself get blinded by all the other noise.

Lets pretend that instead of a meal the eagle is just dropping OdinHades comment :P

The notion that Hardware doesn't matter at all is silly.

I do agree with the highlighted parts though.

PC *is* superior. Only case that can be made for consoles is exclusive library and ease of use. Both of which are eroding (previous typical console exclusives getting PC releases, consoles getting a bit more complicated to use while PCs are getting simpler to use). A PC is superior in any other regard.

As a (up until now) primarily console gamer, I fully accept this. However I will still play on my PS4 and Wii U when I get my 1070. Can't just say "what if exclusives didn't exist" when they do.

If it's not about consoles then why enter the console industry?

For the same reason Microsoft tries to establish their own app store when there are already more than enough good solutions available:

People who don't see PC's superiority is just lying to themselves.

how much superior is Uncharted 4 on PC?

oh wait

When it comes to PC. (It's not a matter of "if" but "when") it will be vastly superior.

Nintendo games are on PC. And they look better than the originals.

Only a matter of time for the PS4 to happen.

PC won't be the dominant gaming platform for a long time. Not because it's missing exclusives but because it's a PC.

At an estimated 180~ million steam users, it's already the dominant platform. It has more exclusives, more games than any other platform.

The xbox is no longer just the console but the OS. That was the plan all along. If you want to play Xbox, you can do it anywhere the Microsoft OS is applicable.

Xbox is the OS? Thats an interesting and probably acurrate proposition. But I think the appropriate term would be service.

Xbox is one of the OS's Microsoft has named on the Xbox One.

obviously there is more then enough reason to own a ps4, it gets a lot of love also, but with xbox games coming to pc, games like total war, civalization among many others, the best vr headsets, cheaper and best experience of third party games plus the choice to play with the controller you want, or just a keyboard and mouse, the pc is deffenitely the most vercitile of all gaming platforms.

like I always say I love my ps4, its easy to use, small, moveable and it works well on my TV, but so does my pc these days. Overall obviously sony also makes great games, like uncharted, they also have third party exclusives, like you mention bloodborne, which i love, but if I had to play exclusively on one platform, PC would win that competition easely, obviously, that is an opinion not a fact.

Cheaper third parties? I don't think so. Prices ar similar on PC and consoles.

PC has always had cheaper games. And that hasn't changed this generation either.

Hows about those free upgrades we are getting on Steam to the new remasters 100% free that are full priced on console?  (Like Bioshock and Skyrim.)

Don't forget, once Neo/Scorpio are out, its utterly pointless t buy/own PS4/Xbone.

I think you are missing the point of the vanilla Xbox One and Playstation 4. Those consoles will continue to exist, continue to be sold as a more price-sensative product.

The only reason Microsoft created the scorpio is because they caught wind that Sony was creating a more powerful PS4 for 4k. Microsoft had not been happy that Sony surprised them in the past, which forced them to quickly try and up their clock speed. For Microsoft its pretty much pointless, but for Sony they've solidified that they created the Neo for two reasons:

1) Deliver a 4k experience (Since they've been working on it)

2) An attempt to keep the few who want a high end gaming experience using their platform and not upgrading to PC (Which seems to be the case because of the rise of PC gaming sales).

The Neo and Scorpio will not be 4k gaming machines.

Microsoft wants to dominate whatever industry they touch. It has nothing to do with consoles but the fact that there are hundreds of millions of consoles being sold without their operating system within them. As eurogamer put it, the Xbox seems to have been a Trojan horse for Windows 10.

So I guess Phil spencer was wrong when he said you will need a 4K tv if you want to use a Scorpio. That's the biggest pile of crap I've ever heard From Phil. If the console is anything like the 360 or the Xbox one its scalable to 4K just like the other consoles were scalable for their time period. No wonder he caused a media circus just talking about it. They are literally saying the Scorpio marketing has cannibalized the S right out of the reveal and it doesn't even come out for a year. We will see how that turns out. Both will be 4K ready. Not only that but Microsoft will need the power for the vr which is one of the primary reasons why they followed Sony on the upgraded console. Sony has to have a console that can handle their vr as well as stop the few console gamers from upgrading to PC. Microsoft has zero reasons to stop them. Two obviously opposite reasons for an upgraded console. They will not allow themselves to be one upped again. Sony has already consulted with third party about scaling the console versions based on the hardware. Some devs were pissed (bioware) and some liked the idea (Bethesda). This means devs will control how far future games are scaled on consoles.
