When it comes to PC. (It's not a matter of "if" but "when") it will be vastly superior.
At an estimated 180~ million steam users, it's already the dominant platform. It has more exclusives, more games than any other platform.
Xbox is one of the OS's Microsoft has named on the Xbox One.
PC has always had cheaper games. And that hasn't changed this generation either.
I think you are missing the point of the vanilla Xbox One and Playstation 4. Those consoles will continue to exist, continue to be sold as a more price-sensative product.
The Neo and Scorpio will not be 4k gaming machines. |
So I guess Phil spencer was wrong when he said you will need a 4K tv if you want to use a Scorpio. That's the biggest pile of crap I've ever heard From Phil. If the console is anything like the 360 or the Xbox one its scalable to 4K just like the other consoles were scalable for their time period. No wonder he caused a media circus just talking about it. They are literally saying the Scorpio marketing has cannibalized the S right out of the reveal and it doesn't even come out for a year. We will see how that turns out. Both will be 4K ready. Not only that but Microsoft will need the power for the vr which is one of the primary reasons why they followed Sony on the upgraded console. Sony has to have a console that can handle their vr as well as stop the few console gamers from upgrading to PC. Microsoft has zero reasons to stop them. Two obviously opposite reasons for an upgraded console. They will not allow themselves to be one upped again. Sony has already consulted with third party about scaling the console versions based on the hardware. Some devs were pissed (bioware) and some liked the idea (Bethesda). This means devs will control how far future games are scaled on consoles.
