Forums - Microsoft - LIVE On PC Is Free.

I'm cool with it, I get 3-4 games for free each month, so of course there should be a price tag attached. I do think MS should make MP free for everyone and make free games and discounts the selling point for XBLG.

That would result in a huge decline in quality and/or quantity of the free games though. Unless they double the price.

Microsofts Play Anywhere titles with crossplatform multiplayer should NOT require Gold to play online. It's not right that someone on PC can play the game, on the same servers, with the same players and not have to pay while console users do.

Just putting it out there that there are retail chains that require you to have a paid membership before you can use them.

Nightmare fuel be damned. Judging by their history and the general look of their stores, they don't seem to be doing so hot like say McDonalds, Coca Cola or any other popular brands let alone Tesco's or M&S for retail.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

"pay to maintain the servers"? You mean pay to maintain these companies.

Don't be fooled, Steam has offered a better online experience since 2003 and managed to keep their online services free. That includes a cloud service since 2009. Also, as far as I know, none of their online games have ever been "shut down".

Paying to play online is ridiculous. Everyone knows that. For some reason console players accepted it and it is what it is now. But PC players already refused it with GFWL. Microsoft can try, but that's a battle they could never win.

The same way I feel about having to pay for PS+ in comparison to free to play on PC. It doesn't bother me one bit. I'm also happily enjoying my indie game rentals.

Maybe, but I'm not to sure the number of subscribers would decline so rapidly.

I still cant believe people pays psn and live to play online.

Free LIVE, free remasters. PC is getting it good this gen :P

I'm not that much into all these gaming server stuff nowadays so excuse my ignorance.
But isn't the difference that console online servers are provided by Microsoft for the Xbox where as the PC online servers are mostly custom servers made by random people?
There are obviously exceptions like Sim City, Diablo 3, The Devision and so on where it aims for MMO.
