Bayo is known to be substantially overtracked though. Also, I don't get the tone in the last paragraph ("I doubt it needs a Sony exclusive to bring it back from where it is, I don't know why it can only be a Sony ip") because the OP mentioned For Honor, a multiplat Ubisoft IP.

Well until it's finally resolved it is what it is. Also you don't have to get the tone or attach one because there isn't really one there to begin with. I didn't mention For Honor since that is a hack n' slash game that's also multiplat.

My point was that the OP never implied that it required a Sony exclusive or Sony IP to reinvigorate the genre, yet you made it sound like that's what the OP was trying to say.

Nope.

God of War is itself moving away from that going by the E3 demo.

Zelda has never been one though, God of War has always been one.

There will probably be even more weapons that play differently, if you've played any God of War game before.

Its just changing the core gameplay, not moving to a different genre from what I've seen.

Every God of War has been one....except for the new one.

Are you sure you've seen the trailer from E3?

Are you seriously saying the following are the same?

You seriously need to re-watch the E3 trailer in that case. They are not the same.

Love how you people compare a demo to a full game.

Bayonetta 2 has crossed a million now!

Both games don't look like hack and slash games for me.
But I still hope that the hack and slash genre will recover the following years because I love this genre!

Wow, people are already judging the entire game's gameplay before it releases ...

How do we also know it's not hack & slash when we have yet to prove that it doesn't have an extensive melee combo system ?

Genre semantics aside, I'd say the Souls series are what is causing a resurgence in melee action games and you can see a fair bit of its influence in the new GOW - though For Honor seems to take more after pc games like Warband. I have high hopes for both titles.

How have the dynasty warriors and samurai warriors games done? They usually sell a few million but yeah, bit disappointed with the hack and slash genre this gen

I don't know about For Honor, but the new GoW is definitely not a Hack n Slash game anymore.
