Forums - Nintendo - What kinds of games do you want from Nintendo?

Two Metroid games: 1 traditional sort of in the vein of Other M, but no FPS mode, voice acting or "story". 1 Metroid Prime metroid with PS4 or higher level graphics. Actually both of them in that level of graphical detail would be great :)

Imaginative and ambitious. AKA The complete opposite from modern day Mario.

I'm now filled with determination.

I would like to see a rhythm game featuring Nintendo music... Long overdue

I've wanted a Nintendo Theatrhythm for so long.

Yeah, sure, that's what we thought with Sega, and look what happened.

Jet Set Radio Future, Gunvalkyrie, Otogi, more Crazy Taxi, Phantasy Star Universe, Super Monkey Ball, Yakuza, Valkyria Chronicles... that's what happened. Not to mention the games they've published, like Bayonetta, Vanquish, Skies of Arcadia, and more. You're further proving my point.

Sonic 06, Sonic Riders (ESPECIALLY the third one), Sonic Lost World and now Sonic Boom. Killed their golden boy.

Sonic was never very good to begind with. I'd rather have Nintendo sacrificing Mario but bringing it with tons and tons of third party games rather than sticking with just the golden boy on first-party.

Losing one mascot in exchange of plenty great games seems like a great deal for going third-party.

Epic, ambitious, boundary-pushing games like Mario 64/Galaxy, Ocarina of Time, Metroid Prime, Xenoblade, etc.

Which still shouldn't happen. It'd devalue Nintendo overall as a company and be a sign of weakness, just like it did with Sega.

Sacrificing Sonic wasn't what made Sega be devaluated, but their questionable decisions as a company and mixed messages to the media and consumers. Considering the widespread success of their games while third-party, and the amount of coverage some of its IP get (like Bayonetta 2 on WiiU or the Shenmue 3 kickstarter), I'd say the brand still has more power than most companies out there. At the same time a lot of awesome games have been produced.

There are some disadvantages for going third-party. There's plenty of advantages, which clearly have made Sega thrive in times where important companies like Capcom struggle to even make one single game without resorting to exterior funding.

needs more adult games.

FPS
Sports (no mario themed crap)
Real fighter like killer instinct
real racing sim.

Without their hardware manufacturing Nintendo would be making even less money than they are now. You'd rather they go from barely stable to the poor house?

Nintendo isn't barely stable. That being said, if the hardware division is having poor sales, like WiiU (And let's hypotetically say NX follows suit), they should ditch hardware altogether and focus on software, which clearly doesn't have any problem being profitable, as their ventures (like Splatoon) are multimillion sellers.

CaptainExplosion said:

Yes, but on Nintendo hardware, so they didn't have to split profits with anyone by making ports on other hardware.

Likewise, they don't have to put up with hardware loses in this case, they would only gain with software sales.
