Forums - Gaming - Opinion: Is Microsoft Running Out Of Exclusives?

PlayStation gets great new imaginative IP's and Japanese titles that Xbox gamers just don't care for. Dreams, Persona 5, Detroit, No Man's Sky. Xbox gamers just don't care about that kind of thing. They're getting what they want, the third party titles (titanfall, cod, battlefield, fifa, madden, fallout) and the staple first party franchises (halo, forza, gears)

Xbox gamers aren't going to be complaining because the lineup is great for them.

It's a really awesome skill to know what 20+ million people are thinking.

You'd think so, but it's more of a burden really.

Didn't MS state at E3 is where they like to show games that have actual release dates and Gamercon for new games coming out. I believe MS has been doing this for a number of years. Yes, Sony is getting a lot of exclusive from non first party developers but then again they have Japan.

Its interesting that people keep throwing in indie developers along side established developers in one sentence. Both companies have exclusive indie efforts so to dismiss MS efforts and champion the other seems kind of off. Either way, both OEM probably have plenty in the pipe for years to come.

I don't know if they've ever stated anything like that, I definitely haven't seen it and they've definitely haven't been doing it for a number of years.

E3 2015, Sea of Thieves, coming 22 months after announcement. Recore was announced with a Spring 2016 release but it's coming September. Gears of War 4 coming 16 months after announcement.

E3 2014 was a lot worse. Scalebound, coming 33 months after announcement and Crackdown coming 34-41 month after announcement, same with Phantom Dust.

The reason I didn't include indies is because there's just a bunch, and trust me, Sony has a shit ton more indies coming to their platform. They even have the better indies coming to their platform like Killing Floor 2, Darkest Dungeon, The Witness, SOMA, etc. Sony definitely has the "bigger" indies.

Well done OP, you got the exact responses you set out to get. Your thread was a success

Sorry for making a thread about a big topic on the gaming industry on a gaming forum because you don't like it.

"There is only one race, the pathetic begging race"

But MS is conference was better than Sony's conference if I have to believe Vgchartz. So this thread is kind of an oddball. Xbox and playstation don't need exclusives half as bad as Nintendo. Even if MS releases 3 console exclusive game per year they will be fine. Sony wants worldwide domination or at least everywhere outside the US, so even if they got way more exclusives than Xone, quite a bunch don't fit well with either the Western or Eastern market.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Microsoft and even Sony have announced their games 1-2 years before they release, it's normal. And if that's not enough, check my post above talking about Microsoft's recent "14 first party games", all they have is Halo 6, Forza 7, Rare's Second game, and 1 unknown game. That is for late 2017/2018 and beyond. I'm saying, there will be a time probably 2018 when there will barely be any exclusives out on Microsofts system.

Yeah, but there's also been a lot of criticism of that approach, so it's certainly possible they've decided not to announce things too far in advance anymore.

Besides, let's not forget that a game doesn't need to be 1st party to end up exclusive.

I think the issue being brought up here is they mentioned that they only have 14 "first party" games in development, and they seem to be using a pretty loose definition of first party.

The vast majority of them are games that have already been announced, and that means that it's likely that something like 12 of those 14 games will be out by the end of next year.

So what happens then? They haven't even started working on games to replace the ones that are launching. Best case scenario is the first 6 months of 2018 is empty because the started working on games...basicially right after that statement was made and development is quick and painless.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

I kinda felt maybe they were holding off for a proper Scorpio reveal next year.
Not only that but the games they showed were coming out soon, Sonys playing the hype card by showing new games that are years away.

No, because exclusives are not the only thing one can play on a system.

It has alot of games just like the ps4 had alot of games when xbox fans kept saying it did not.

Just like back then instead of focusing on quantity, since both have it in spades, people should take about their preferences

There is nothing wrong with preferring one brand or ecosystems games over another.

l <---- Do you mean this glitch Gribble?  If not, I'll keep looking.

Going by this thread I think they've got plenty.

How so? We just learned that they've got 14 1st party games in development, Gears 4, Recore, Sea of Thieves, Forza Horizon 3, Killer Instinct, Minecraft, Scalebound, Halo Wars 2, State of Decay 2, Crackdown 3, games we know of. That's 10, then that leaves Halo 6, Forza 7, and Rare's Second Game. That leaves just 1 unknown game? That's not a lot. Also, I guess you could replace Minecraft with Ori 2.

That is plenty indeed. Just because Playstation has more does not mean XBox has few or less attractive games for XBox fans.

Not really, the only game that is years away is Kojimas and it was just a thing he had too do. The reason Sony didn't give release dates is probably because Spiderman, Days Gone, and God of War are set for 2017 but they have the chance to slip into early 2018 and that is why they're waiting for a release date. Those games have been in development for 3+ years. These games are like Horizon, which I do not think was announced early. They announced it E3 2015 and had it set for Late 2016 but it slipped too early 2017. I'm positive we'll see atleast one of those 3 games in 2017, most likely Spider-man. But I'm sure all 3 will come out before the second half of 2018. And this time period, both Microsoft and Sony have done before for announcing, releasing their games.

Ok but this is a thread about exclusives, of course it has multiplats but exclusives do matter. Maybe not just 1 alone, but put together exclusives do matter. Not sure what you're talking about with the second half.

It's really not about whether the PS4 has more but after the ones we know about come out, there will not be many left for late 2017/2018 other than Forza 7, Halo 6, and Rare's second game.
