Forums - Gaming - Opinion: Is Microsoft Running Out Of Exclusives?

Wakey wakey mods. This thread has gone on long enough.

In fact, 4 pages in, and not one ''mod'' has come in to say anything...hmmmm... I wonder why???

It's fairly obvious. Everyone has been behaving themselves.

It´s too risk and expencive.

Microsoft never had many exclusives to begin with.

And last be honest neither Sony nor Nintendo is doing any much better. "Horizons" is probaly the first AAA first party Sony new IP since "Drive Clube" (and I almost forget about it, I was about to write "The Last of Us").

Bloodborne is owned by Sony if i remember well, Splatoon is owned by Nintendo, The Order is also a Sony's franchise.

We are not talking about AAA games neither New IP, we are talking about games in general.

Scalebound 33 months, Crackdown 34-41 months, Halo Wars 2 18 months, Sea of Thieves 22 months , Halo 5 29 months, Fable Legends, 30+ months (if it wasn't cancelled, still announced early), Gears of War 4 16 months.

And you just proved my point. Them games are exceptions and its since MS announced them games too early you feel like they have nothing else to show.

However i think MS has relised after announcing them games too soon that its better to wait till you have proper release dates and when its closer to release.

Every year i keep hearing how MS are running out of exclusives cos "they only showed this number of games so thats all they have" . And every year they show people different. Its going to be no different next year, and the year after. MS will of showed newer games by then and people be like "This is all MS has they showed nothing else".

What the hell? How does that prove your point? You said Microsoft never shows games early like Sony, I just proved they did. And you could also add Quantum Break to that list. Lol, it doesn't matter the reason for which they announced their games early, they did.

Yes, I actually just saw that. Now we'll have too see if those games are "big". But it doesn't make sense, they're going to skip announcing their "big" games at E3, the biggest gaming event, just a month later to a smaller one? That doesn't make sense.

They did the same last year, remember how they would not talk about a certain games at E3 like Scalebound/Quantum Break/Crackdown etc.

Those games weren't announced at Gamescom. Scalebound and Crackdown were announced 14 months before that conference. There is a difference between announcing a game and showing gameplay for it.

Instead of just moaning about the topic, why don't you tell me what's wrong with this thread? It's backed with pretty good reason as to why I don't think Microsoft will have many exclusives in late 2017/2018 and probably beyond.

Did MS run out of money? That theory just seems highly unlikely especially with new hardware coming and the Windows 10 gaming push.

Again, I think they have so much to release in a relatively short period that announcments are probably being held off. MS has a history of announcing some games not long until release as well. I mean Forza Horizon 3 just became offical.

Microsoft don't have a history of announcing games not long before release and neither Sony nor Nintendo have, Forza is now a yearly franchise so if they announce Forza Horizon 3, 1 year before the release this would hurt Forza 6's Sales.

Dead Rising 4 wasn't known about and that's something MS could have mentioned before. MCC, X1 BC, Rare Replay, Gears Ultimate, Killer Instinct launched months after announced. I'm sure you'll find numerous other examples in the past and that's something I've mentioned in the past, MS's E3 often announces some titles coming relatively soon while Sony's announcments tend to be more long term.

Once again, we already know how many games they have in development. They have a bunch of games releasing soonish, but don't seem to be working anything for the long term.

Know... or assume?

I don't wanna drag this on but I believe MS is working on titles we don't know about. That's generally how it goes.

Uuuhhh...Know.

I head first party game publishing for Xbox One or Windows 10 or any of our platforms. We right now have, i think, 14 games in development. We talked about four of those this morning – Killer Instinct, Scalebound, State of Decay 2, and ReCore. We also have Crackdown 3, which we announced has now been moved into 2017, and there are a few other ones that aren’t quite ready to be talked about yet.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Oh boy, that's not a lot to go with. Sounds like he's just speaking expeditiously and doesn't want to give exact details.

Hence, you're reading too much into his statement. Again, I believe there is more happening than you think.

Yeah, they're turning to a software sales centered business model, extending their catalogue to W10 in order to sell more games, even coming back to sell games in Steam, obviously to not releasing new games anymore.

Tim and The Princes...

Does exclusives really matter? I mean look at the PSVita and the Wii U.

Exclusives matters for the console Wars, that un fact is more importante than gaming already.
