Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor is definitely brutal. People don't really say anything about it because it's just orcs dying in the game.

Playing the soldier of Fortune gold game of trying to shoot off all 4 limbs before the torso hit the ground... I know compared to some games today that is fairly tame... almost not quite, but still back in 2000 that was pretty Extreme in terms of violence.
