Forums - Sony - Digital Foundry - Several sources indicate Neo will launch this year

It'd be pretty interesting if this is true. It launching a year~ earlier than the Scorpio, and likely at a lower price, would be reasonable justification for it being around 30%~ weaker. It would also make it likely that Sony and MS will in effect start taking turns in releasing hardware, so they'd be constantly looking to one upping each other (which would arguably encourage more competition).

they may not even take turns since PS4 and Neo would have release before the other

This plan could still change though.

By taking turns i mean Neo -> Scorpio -> Sony again -> MS again, etc. One would have to release two pieces of hardware in quick succession to swap the rotation (this all, of course, assuming they both continue to produce hardware which i personally think they will in some form for a while).

I'd love a "PS Neo + PSVR" bundle this November.

If they are going to try to match Teraflops with MS's machine next year it's going to cost 1k for this bundle at least.

I think MS were smart in ways with the Scorpio tease, showed that next year they'll have more power to weaken the position of Sony's system as of right now, sort of reminds me of the power of the cloud that is coming though.... will it come or is it just a promise on the horizon to make what is actually here seem inferior?

Hmm, that didn't really work out for the ps3 though. Next gen doesn't start until we say so, wait for the power of the cell.
And just like with the ps3, initially the games won't look much better on Scorpio if at all. With 4 specs plus NX and PC, and Scorpio with the smallest install base it will get the least polish. Same for Neo, except it will have a year head start.

Neo plus VR bundle could be 699. I don't think Neo will be more than 399, it would be crazy if it's more than the ps4 launch price. $100 discount bundled together plus a free camera. It depends on how eager Sony is to get the VR ball rolling. Yet it's the perfect time to get people to upgrade when they're ready to shell out for VR anyway. It worked on me when move came out, slim + move bundle to get 320GB instead of 80GB on a very noisy launch model.

I'm still on the 2016 train.

Owww I see... well then yep I agree it can happen. Only way it would differ is like once in a while it happens that like MS release Scorpio and then jump start the next HW or after Scorpio Sony do something like that. But I think that would be hard to happen.

Neo will just be a hardware boost to get vr games at 1080p 60-120fps and normal games at 1080 60fps
Thats what the neo should be focused to

The 4k market is waaaay to small to be a super Succes and definitely for Microsoft way to late to try and "beat" or "weaken" << whahaha.  Sony.

Cant wait if true

If true, the Scorpio has even less of a chance. If Sony can launch this year, at $399, with ~5-5.5Tflops, it won't even be a contest. Hell, they may even drop the price to $349 in anticipation of the Scorpio next Holiday season. My guess is a Gamescom announcement.

Not only that, if it comes out around the XBox One S you get a pretty akward situation. Even with 4.2 tflops as previously rumored it will make the XBox One S look like a pretty bad deal. Neo will be smaller and over 3 times faster. No wonder MS felt like they needed to announce Scorpio early.

Whatever is closest to the actual XBox One S launch, that's when Neo gets announced is my guess.
