Aye seeing something like CupHead for the second (at least) year in a row's E3 kinda makes me think, how long does that kinda game take to make really, is there like >5 guys working on it?

Yes, IIRC from E3 last year it was 2 guys doing animation for every boss, frame by frame.

Also, No Man's Sky opened a precedent.

CupHead has one more year to beat Hello Games.

I love me some indie and "retro" look games, but still frame by frame animation of 2d boss figures in

Style of game, should never point to a precedent created by a game which has millions of 3d worlds which look like

Taking a number of years to create, regardless of if it is being made by 1 person in a dark room with no monitor and having to render each frame on an old 486 or whatever.

Pretty sure he's talking trash as usual. He just cant help himself.

Has anyone got a list of exclusives that have been released so far this year, and what is expected?

He's mentioned 4, Sony has had 2 or 3 already hasn't it and will have GT Sport, TLG, No Mans Sky, about 7 billion VR games, Perhaps he was talking about Nintendo?

already out in 2016

Uncharted 4 A Thief's End, Ratchet & Clank, MLB 16 The Show, Street Fighter V, Gravity Rush Remastered, Heavy Rain And Beyond Two Souls Collection, Valkyria Chronciles Remastered, Day of the Tentacle Remastered, Firewatch, Aliennation, Shadow Of The Beast, Hitman Go, Salt And Sanctuary

The Last Guardian, Gran Turismo Sport, Star Ocean 5, No Mna's Sky, The King Of Fighters 14, Dragon Quest Builders, World Of Final Fantasy

+ A LOT of other indie & japanese games

Why does Microsoft get a pass on drawing this artificial line on when games are released?

They release almost NOTHING all year until the holidays, release a handful of things... then release NOTHING all first half of next year.

Sony on the other hand had a decent line up until now, has a strong lineup this fall, and has an amazing lineup early next year.

But most importantly -- E3 is an annual event... almost all of the games demoed at 2016 E3 -- will be launched prior to 2017 E3. (Exclude Kojima's game ... that won't come until Holiday 2018 at earliest)

Fanboys mainly.  But not to worry, sales prove that people aren't buying MS's BS anymore.  And release dates?  Really?  That's all Spencer could come up with?  Really reaching there, Phil.  Guess as long as they announce dates, that's all that matters.  Who cares if they always have to be changed, just announce dates.

I think it takes just a smidge more work to make a 3D game with thousands of planets you can go visit at will than to make a 2D linear arcade shooter(?).  Also Hello Games lost most, if not all, of their work in an office flood.

Last week someone posted some stats and Sony is the worst at releasing games they show at E3. I don't think MS was that much better though. Let me see if I can find that post...

Isn't this the same Phil Spencer that wanted "unity" in gaming and spoke about how he found "console wars" distasteful?

I see as time goes on, reality starts to show itself.

On topic, sure the games you showed have released dates NOW. See the thing is, 85% of the things MS showed that have release dates now, they showed last year (and some even the year before). But I guess we're going to gloss over that little fact.

He's starting to sound like Greenberg or that guy that used to work for them, Shane Kim.

Should maybe point out (if it wasn't already done so, sorry I didn't take the time to read all the replies here) pink elephant of the room, but if you want to compare this years X1 exclusives... to any system, it loses out simply because Windows 10 exists.

It could well be true, but the sheer fact that they said FF7:R is coming... I mean I'm happy with that, I'm in my 30s I'll live until the game launches unless it gets set back 40+ years (hopefully) I'm still buzzing that it's coming out lol.

That said, I think most of the gasps at Sony's E3 this year was the fact that after most of the videos shown, there was a date shown, the last guardians Gasp after the date was audible around the world.

Dont think theres any need to be rude, if that is directed at me and not Phil Spencer.

There's no way that's directed at you. You even said Spencer mention 4, but Sony has released 3, and have 3 more on deck (by name, and there's a bunch more), plus VR.

Unless the guy simply misread your comment. Or lacks reading comprehension =/. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say he directed it at Spencer.
